"Real Community Spirit - and a wonderful beach"

A place combining old fashioned neighbourliness with modern living . Great range of shops, housing, more cafes and restaurants then you would believe in a place of it's size . . I hesitate to praise the beach too much in case it makes more people come and find it !
Great community spirit, and a great place to own and walk your dog

Looking for a home in Semaphore?

"An amazing suburb to live in!"

Where else do you find a suburb that offers gorgeous character homes so close to the sea? Semaphore has it all from great cafes, a beautiful strip of beach, the foreshore that is only getting more and more popular with annual festivals, the Semaphore Street Fair - the list goes on. Truly a hidden gem!

"A lovely suburb with a great sense of community"

Being a local for the last 7 years I find living here fantastic. The Port Adelaide Enfield Council, the Semaphore Information Centre and Volunteers offer family friendly festivals during the year which is something I really love. From the Semaphore Greek Festival where you can watch (& participate) in Greek dancing, captivate your senses with a delicious yiros and the best loukoumades (honey puffs) that I've ever eaten. SA Dog Rescue also held an event for their 10th Birthday Bash on the Semaphore foreshore last weekend which had live bands, face painting, food and jumping castles for the kids. Other festivals include the Semaphore Music Festival, the Semaphore Street Fair and the Kite Festival on the beach. Semaphore Road houses some good quality cafes and restaurants offering a range of cuisines. Some of my favourites are Red Ass (my favourite is the butter chicken and roti tandoori roll), Charmers Cafe (their cupcakes are to die for) as well as Indulge (you can't go past the lamb souvlaki and their dessert platter).

"Semaphore- great to buy in, rent in or invest in"

Quiet residing with great access to shopping, cafes and of course the beach. Like a country town without the hustle of Glenelg with a great diversity of housing styles.
Fantastic bungalows, villa's and cottages.

"A lovely beachside suburb without the frantic pace of Glenelg"

Semaphore is a delightful beachside suburb, situated about 35 minutes from Adelaide and 15 minutes to the south of Glenelg.

Semaphore’s Jetty Road offers a wide range of shops selling the usual near-beach things – ice-cream, fish and chips, inexpensive fashion and homewares.

There are a number of beachfront eating spots on the Esplanade, as well as the usual collection of recently constructed holiday homes. Other houses in the area take on more of a bungalow style, offering relaxed living just a few streets back from the sea.

Close to Marion for all of your shopping needs, Semaphore is a lovely seaside location that is slightly removed from the touristy hustle and bustle of nearby Glenelg.

Who wrote this? Semaphore is north of Glenelg and not close to Marion Shopping Centre, unless you've got a helicopter.

Nor has it got a Jetty Road............

walterda

It has got a great main street with a variety of shops and eating places. Its one of the last beaches to be discovered in the modern era... perhaps the final ones being the near north beaches of Largs Bay and Taperoo. Even on hot days they can be deserted! Real estate prices set to zoom up in next couple of years as more people move into the Lefevre Peninsula generally.

Just in regard to Luxe09's comments, Semaphore is about 30 minutes North of Glenelg, All the action is on Semaphore road(restaurants, cafe's movies etc,on the esplanade has 2 takeaways and the Palais .Lots of newly costructed luxury residences .You dont need to go to Marion , a good hours plus drive away because Westlakes is only 5 minutes down the road. All in all the perfect place to live if you dont want the hussle and bussle of living in Glenelg and just want to relax.

Well said jackjim69. I bought in ethelton 3 years ago as I love semaphore but it's out of my range of income. Semaphore is unbelievable . While I currently life in sydney, I know some of my friends here who are quite comfortable but have lived in a very quick environment are constantly looking in semaphore . The package is outstanding and from a sydney perspective it's close to everything but there is a perspective that it's so far away so we see this is an opportunity to live in a perfect suburb

Youre referring to Brighton not Semaphore.
