What is the best suburb to look at renting near Brisbane? We are moving for my husbands work.

We have two small children so need to be near good Childcare, parks etc, within 45mins to centre of brisbane and has good cafes - love a good coffee!!!

If you want to be by the water, then Wynnum or Manly would be my choice, I wouldn't live anywhere else. It's the only seaside suburb in Brisbane that is within a 20km radius of the City. Takes about 25 mins by train to the City but you still have that holiday feel when you get home and have a walk along the foreshore.

If cost is an issue and hubby doesnt work 9-5 then look around the bundamba area. Its on the train line, well above floodlines, and offpeak its only a 30 minute drive to the city.

Im a fan of the west side. With two small kids I cant say I'd recommend anything closer than Indooroopilly as the rents are astronomical (I used to live in Toowong). Jindalee, Jamboree Heights, Mt Ommaney area have alot of great daycares, schools, parks, shops, and a major bus stop. Unfortunately no trains. Its expensive, but you get a house for the price of an apartment closer in. Is this a permanent move? and how soon till the kids go to school? Perhaps you should find a school and/or daycare you like, then triangulate from there.

Depends how much your willing to pay in rent and what kind of accommodation your seeking i guess? I would recommend from the Southside, anywhere from Tarragindi to Calamvale way. From the west, Jindalee to as far as Middle Park, east...Cannon Hill, Carindale. CAn't recommend anywhere from the North as I'm not too familiar with it but its annoying that they have a zillion lights along the main roads to get anywhere in a hurry! At least from every other direction there are highways of some sort! The southside is quite convenient and has a tonne of great cafes/restaurants, plus a ridiculous amount of clean, tidy and safe parks for the kids! We occasionally drive that way to catch up with friends.
