Reviews of Singleton, NSW

"One of Sydney's 'Nice' sub's"

I have lived now in Stanhope Gardens for coming up to 12 years. It is filled with professional people, in million dollar homes. A lovely lovely place to be, soon in 2019 the 'light rail' will be working. That has been a work in progress for a good few years. There is nothing really that the local shopping center has not got, it even has a K Mart...The only issue is parking can be a little full during the day. It is only 15 mins drive to Blacktown, very clean nice place and you find the vibe fantastic. There is a jail very close by, but you would never know it is there. Such careful planning for this area makes that one big plus! You are 10 mins away from Rouse Hill shopping center that is just great. You are 20 mins away from Parramatta, and under 10 mins away from the famous 'Hillsong-Church'.
This area will pick up in price once the light rail is working, and it is totally family friendly. Sounds busy? no, just a great well planned out place to live. Has also right across from the shopping center Library-swimming pools (indoors). At the shopping center, there are also doctors-dentists-everything you need. The people are very nice, and the local post office has great staff, the chemist the very same. It has a Coles supermarket and all the other shops you feel you need.
To live in Stanhope Gardens is a pleasure.

"Great place for families & investors"

Our agency manages many properties in the Branxton area including surrounding suburbs. There is a high volume of families that are wanting to be in the area as it is close enough to the mines to travel however far enough away to be out of the coal dust & the hustle that can be Singleton & Muswellbrook. We also find is it quite popular because it is that bit closer to Newcastle & the beaches.

I would suggest Branxton to anyone that is thinking of investing in the Hunter region as the small country town will boom in the next few years with the new freeway being built making the drive to Newcastle & Sydney much easier.

Great for

  • Central to Singleton, Maitland and Cessnock.
  • On the doorstep of wine country
  • People
  • The pub

Not great for

  • Some traffic congestion at mine times

"Beautiful Branxton"

We're Branxton locals, we live on small acreage close to town. We've got great neighbours on all sides. There are lots of families in the area and it's a great place for people looking to escape the rat race.

Branxton is well positioned between Maitland and Singleton at the northern gateway to Wine Country. World class vineyards, restaurants, golf courses, markets, concerts, art and cultural events are all on offer nearby. There's countless places to travel, sightsee, go camping or fishing.

There are two primary schools locally, and several private schools within a short commute from Branxton, as well as top class music and sporting facilities. It's less than an hour to the beaches in Newcastle and a 2 hour trip to Sydney.

Branxton is not somewhere you'd live if you wanted shopping centres and big city facilities within walking distance. It is however, a beautiful little country town, with great people, picturesque surroundings and perfectly positioned to all the Hunter Valley has to offer.

Great for

  • Close to world class vineyards, restaurants and golf courses
  • Central location to Maitland, Singleton and F3 Freeway Extension to Newcastle and Sydney
  • Beautiful countryside, rolling hills and valleys
  • People

Not great for

  • No gym
  • Pot holes

"We love it!"

We moved to Branxton from the NT over a year ago and absolutely love it. We have found it to be a nice quiet little town with lots of families, friendly people and plenty of great things to do and places to see all within a short drive. The locals were very welcoming and we found it easy to meet and make new friends.
Branxton has modest facilities, including a nice local park, public swimming pool, golf course, medical centre, a fantastic pub and arguably one of the best value bakeries around. Everything else is a short commute, with Branxton centrally located to major towns Maitland, Cessnock and Singleton, for shopping, sporting, gyms etc. The vineyards are a 5 minute drive, an hour to the beach and Newcastle, and 2 hours to Sydney. With the Hunter Expressway due for completion in 2013, Newcastle and Sydney will be even closer. Branxton is far enough from the mines to be out of the coal dust, but close enough to be a great place for mine workers to live and for property investment.

Great for

  • Friendly people, lots of families
  • Away from the coal dust
  • Short commute to Hunter Valley Grammar School and other excellent private schools
  • Central to Singleton, Maitland and Cessnock.
  • On the doorstep of wine country
  • The pub

Not great for

  • Below average local schools
  • No gym
  • Lots of pot holes in the road in the Cessnock City Council areas of Branxton
  • Some traffic congestion at mine times

"Great people, great location"

After moving from Victoria to Singleton a few years back I quickly figured out that Branxton was where I wanted to be. Centrally located between Singleton, Rutherford & Cessnock allowing for many options with shopping, schools & things to do. Also only 10 minutes from the wineries in the centre of the Hunter Valley.

However, Branxton itself is fantastic! Go into any shop & you will be treated like an old friend & receive the best service. The prices are no different from any other town & the pub has the best food around.

I have loved every minute since living in branxton & have made many friend.
