Reviews of Slacks Creek, QLD

"Slacks Creek is an affordable & convenient location!"

Slacks Creek is becoming a popular location due to its affordability and close proximity to the M1 Motorway.

Slacks Creek homes are predominantly purchased by first home buyer’s as you can still purchase a large family property with 600sqm+ land and inclusions under $500,000.

There are multiple Schools to choose from; Mabel Park State School, Mabel Park State High School, John Paul College for early learning, primary, and secondary day and boarding school. St Edward’s Catholic Primary School and Calvary Christian College.

Slacks Creek has a total of 13 local Parks, bikeways and multiple coffee shops. If you’re a coffee lover (like myself) Stop in at Extraction Artsian Coffee located 7/3375 Pacific Highway, Slacks Creek. I often go there for meetings/lunch and they never disappoint with their food, coffee and friendly staff.

I would highly recommend Slacks Creek to family and friends to live in!

Looking for a home in Slacks Creek?

"House prices are good but a lot of crime"

We bought a house in Slacks Creek in 2018 after reading good reviews of the suburb. Our particular street is well presented and has friendly neighbours. The surrounding streets has some "questionable" people and there has also been a lot of crimes since we moved in. From break and enters to weapon and drug offences. I personally don't walk around the neighbourhood.
Saying that, hopefully this area is the next to boom and the trouble makers are forced out.

"A good place to live your dream"

I purchased a place here in 2015 and have enjoyed a relaxed and comfortable life style ever since. My mortgage is small and manageable. My neighbours are quiet and friendly, my street is clean and well presented. Feels like it can only get better. It's so cheap compared to the suburbs that border it to the North and East. I came from another area of Brisbane and I was surprised when locals said they had reservations about living in Slacks Creek because of its proximity to Logan Central. I think it's just and old way of thinking that is slowly disappearing. A lot of tradies here too, and they love to renovate.

"Warm friendly area"

Slacks Creek is a great suburb with very friendly down to earth people. The area has a number of parks, playgounds and great walking tracks for those who love the outdoors or who exercise pets. I have been living in the area for more than 4 years and have never experienced any crime or trouble with neighbours.

This suburb has direct access to the CBD or Gold Coast within a 25 minute drive. The area is currently receiving a face lift, with a new bus way and a park and ride in construction. Also in the near future a cinemas complex will be build in Springwood/Daisy Hill, which shares the same postcode as Slacks Creek.

This is definately a surburb not to overlook or underestimate.

Rentals in Slacks Creek

"Convenient location"

Im going to add my general opinion on the "current" state of Slacks Creek, according to recent logan property charts Slacks Creek is in the top 5 of "most likely to experience high growth" suburbs. Some reasons for this is its position, close to the M1 which is still being upgraded and convenient access to many shops\facilities including the new IKEA.

Some investors are purchasing property in the area as there is "steady" growth in regards to "capital gains". In my overall opinion I think the area is doing much better than recent times and will continue to grow according to the "current" property trends. However keep a close eye also on Springwood and Daisy Hill as they are high contenders of Slacks Creek.

"Slacks Creek has improved"

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to express my opinion of Slacks Creek, I have lived there in the past and am very familiar with Logan City suburbs.

Slacks Creek has been an area which in the past has been known for crime (however I never came accross this when I was living there) and the odd hoons doing burn outs up kingston road. I must admit the area has definately experienced considerable growth over past phew years though, there seems to be more good coming in and the bad being pushed out.

I have friends in Slacks Creek and when I visit the area it seems alot quiter and there are a lot more renevated houses these days. There also appears to be more families and kids playing on the streets then I remember.

The general locan city property charts are expecting Slacks Creek to be one of the higher growing areas due to its location being in the middle of everything.

Hope this helps anyone looking for information on the area.

Thanks,
Amy Taylor

"Slacks Creek set for growth & close to everything!"

We have been living in Slacks Creek for a while now and have found it is a very civilized neighbourhood, close to the new IKEA which is the largest IKEA in the southern hemisphere and close to the M1 which takes you 30-40 mintues to get to the Gold Coast and 15-20 minutes to Brisbane City. It seems like more families coming to the suburb which gives a good feeling when out and about. I can see Slacks Creek as having considerable growth over the next 10-20 years, as population growes logan areas are going to be considered very close to Brisbane City with easy access to the M1 you can't go wrong with those capital gains.

"Use to be affordable.."

I remember when you could still buy a brick house with more than 600 sqm just 4-5 years ago for around $200,000. The area has had significant growth in the past 5-6 years.

Nowadays to purchase a comparable property would cost around the $400,000 mark. In the last few years the IKEA has moved to Slacks Creek (one of the biggest in southern hemisphere).

Slacks Creek is still close enough to the CBD although traffic is starting to get really bad on the highway. Even though substantial development has gone ahead in the area it is still not the safest and must be weary. For investors and first home buyers I really believe you may have missed the boat purchasing here and that there are now more affordable solutions such as Crestmead, Marsden and Beenleigh.

Great for

  • Close to ikea cheap hotdogs!

Not great for

  • Can be dangerous
  • Highway traffic
  • Poor quality tenants

"Great place Great prices!"

Slacks Creek has come a long way in recent times with the new Ikea moving from Springwood to Slacks Creek. Whats more the new Ikea is super sized and i believe one of or the even the biggest Ikea in all the Southern Hemisphere.

The beauty of this area is you can still buy good two storey homes in the 300's and if your lucky you may even get a solid brick home you can gut renovate and make quick money on. Especially with all the first home buyers at the moment.

If you want a good head start in life start with a cheaper home and renovate!
