"Smithfield Suburb Snapshot - Jan 2021"

Smithfield the Suburb that offers so much continues to grow in popularity amongst locals, and people moving into the area from interstate. With a population growth of more than 40% in the last 5 years, and continued investment into infrastructure, roads, public and private schools we are predicting Smithfield to be one of the hottest Suburbs in 2021.

You have immediate access to a lot of facilities like Smithfield Shopping Centre, Cinemas, Cafés, Restaurants, Gyms, Bunnings, BCF, McAlister Brewery, Placid Pools, Smithfield Florist, and many more gift, clothing, furniture, homewares stores etc.

The local library and public swimming pool are an added bonus for locals, and well situated next to Campus Village Shopping Centre, JCU James Cook University, Smithfield Mountain Bike Tracks, Nature & Walking Trails and New Smithfield Village Café and Dining precent.
For tourists and locals there is plenty to keep everyone entertained, with The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum, award winning Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Cairns Wake Park, AJ Hackett Skypark with Bungy jumping, Cairns Kart Hire, Lasertag and Escape Rooms those needing an extra adrenaline hit.

Situated at the doorstep of the Cairns Northern Beaches with direct easy access to Kuranda Village (Kennedy Hwy), or cut through/past Caravonica, Redlynch, Brinsmead and you’re in the city in no time. Alternatively stay on Captain Cook Highway over the Barron River at you’re at the Airport, and then on to Cairns City & The Esplanade.

In terms of property Smithfield offers so much in terms of Residential and Commercial Real Estate. With entry level units, apartments, and houses ranging from $100,000 - $350,000, for those up-sizing the mid – range is well catered for with the median currently sitting at a respectable $440,000 approx. and new developments like Smithfield Village and Canopy’s Edge Semi Private Estate developing homes from $500,000 - $900,000 , and finally in the more established area of Smithfield Heights at the foothills of the Macalister Mountain Range your find that High End Premier Real Estate is also catered for with many properties offering acreage, rainforest, seclusion and million dollar views in sought after locations like Stanton Road, Chatham Terrace, and Tranquil Place to name but a few.

"Not the Northern beaches but okay"

Northern beaches start at Trinity Beach up. Smithfield is good for shopping. That's about it. Bunnings there too which is handy. Not the nicest of suburbs but okay.

"The future growth in cairns"

Just the perfect location. And 100% agree about the Canopys Edge area although its more in the $600,000 - $800,000 price bracket. Really just the perfect location especially with the new casino at Yorkeys Knob. I can see values here really going up

"The Northern Hub of Cairns Beaches"

Centrally positioned just North of Cairns, Smithfield is within a 5-10 minute drive of all beautiful surrounding beach suburbs including Palm Cove and within 20 minute drive to Cairns City. Smithfield is also positioned at the base of the Kuranda range with easy access to the Tablelands. Pegged as the transport and infrastructure hub of the northern Cairns, Smithfield has an exciting future and offers a range of lifestyle locale options including:
- Newer estate areas including Smithfield Village, Northpoint and Canopy's Edge
- Established areas surrounding Smithfield Shopping Centre, James Cook University & Campus Village
- Acreage style properties within beautiful rainforest settings along the base of the range

"Perfect Location"

Perfect Location just a short drive to beached and to the city of Cairns. At the foot of the Kuranda range its elevation means protection from any likely storm surge or tsnaumi. Great facilities and mainly families in the middle/upper income brackets. Its away from any potential crime hot spots associated with inner Cairns areas. Check out the Canopys Edge areas - $500,000+ homes good value

I don't think this lady has seen all areas of Smithfield unfortunately. Take a drive and you'll find things are very different to what you are experiencing :(

"Great area - close to nature yet with all the facilities and excitement of a thriving community"

Smithfield is a fantastic area - just 15-20mins from the centre of Cairns, yet it has a safer and friendlier air about it. Only 5-10 minutes from a major shopping centre, schools, swimming pools, sportsgrounds, library, childcare, medical centres, gyms, public transport and the Beaches!!
At the foot of the Kuranda Range you're just 15mins from the village in the rainforest. Having lived in Kuranda for many years, finding a magic block in the foothills of the Macalister range in Smithfield has been wonderful. With all the peace and quiet of the rainforest, yet with every conceivable facility just minutes away!
There are numerous award winning restaurants nearby at the Northern Beaches. If you're up for a bit more lively nightlife, Cairns is just a short trip away.
We've found it a very safe area and many people enjoy walking here at all hours of the day and night.
Take a drive - Smithfield will surprise you with its diversity.
