Reviews of Smythesdale, VIC

"Just wonderful"

I grew up one town over, in the tiny town of Scarsdale. Smythesdale is one of the main "hubs" for the local Shire, with a large recreation facility and great sporting venues, a pharmacy and information centre, as well as a supermarket and several eateries along the main street.

It is a 10 minute drive to Sebastopol along the Ross Creek road, and a 15-20 minute drive to Ballarat Central - so perfect for a short commute to work.

It's a great place to raise a family, with plenty of local school and kindergarten options, sporting teams and Shire-run activities. Community spirit abounds, and you will always find some fantastic locals willing to lend a helping hand. There's also a resident GP at "The Well" near the main street, so no travelling to the doctor!

There are also some great fitness and health programs readily available in both the Smythesdale Well and the Woady Yaloak Recreation Facility. Yoga and GenkiFit fitness are two great options.

It is scenic and quiet and just a wonderful little town. I'd definitely recommend taking a drive and a stroll through the town and seeing what's there!

  • Beautiful, historic villiage.
  • Pub, IGA, Primary school.

Looking for a home in Smythesdale?

"Amazing, and beautiful location"

Friendly, beautiful, progressive, and with an incredible and increasing sense of community, Smythesdale has been an exceptional place to bring up my young family. It is just the right distance from the hustle and bustle of Ballarat (100,000 people, has everything!). Further to this, Smythesdale has been gazetted to be the local 'centre' by the local shire, such that now and in the future the already outstanding community facilities will increase, along with local markets and hopefully one day a coffee shop!

Great for

  • Beautiful, historic villiage.
  • Pub, IGA, Primary school.

Not great for

  • A quaint coffee shop would round out this amazing location
  • Needs a beaut coffee shop. Not far away?

"The next Daylesford?"

Well, it is some time before it shares the same status as Daylesford, but it is well accepted that Smythesdale has the perfect combination of natural beauty, distance to Ballarat, friendly community coupled with brilliant schools and IGA supermarket. The pub is an icon, and the history is superb. Smythesdale is signed off to have a sewerage system installed into the residential region in the very near future, and rightfully so, the township is set to take off when this goes in.

Great for

  • Beautiful, historic villiage.
  • Pub, IGA, Primary school.

Not great for

  • Needs a beaut coffee shop. Not far away?
