"Beautiful Town to raise a family"

Sorell has everything a growing family needs. Great access to sporting facilities, both major supermarkets, good doctors, schools and more. We love the flat surfaces for riding and walking. The town green is beautiful especially when the roses are in full bloom. The park on the "duck creek" as my kids call it, is great for a family picnic or BBQ. And we love exploring the river marshes. Lots of locally owned businesses. Winner of tidy town on many occasions. We love calling Sorell home.

"Dead as a doornail."

Unhappy place, unhappy customer service from almost everyone. No opportunities unless you want to work in a cafe for minimum wage. Everyone drives around in clapped out cars unless they’re a farmer in a nice landcruiser. I didn’t realise how much of a hole Sorell and Tasmania were in general were until I moved to Western Australia and saw the job and life opportunities that other places had to offer. Don’t move to Sorell or Tasmania unless you want to rot.

"Dump"

Bad cafes, terrible supermarkets, nowhere for community to congregate apart from the park which I saw about 20 high school kids fighting in the other day. Heaps of bogans, lots of dry/dead grass, dead as a door nail after 5pm. Glad to be out of Sorell, that’s for sure. What a hole.

"The up and coming suburb"

Sorell is a great up and coming town..
With all the recent renevations and new facilites, there is plenty of variety and everything you need within walking distance. Why would you want to live anywhere else? It is a lovely safe and quiet suburb great for families, with the school loacted just out of the centre of the town going from pre-school to Grade 10. There are plenty of employment oppertunities ranging from the young people just starting out right through to people looking for serious employment. Sorell is the perfect suburb for a small family and very affordable. With Seven Mile Beach located only a 5 minute drive away, and Carlton and Park beach only about 10 minutes drive.
Some of the new facilities include:
Zap Gym.
Chemist Warehouse.
Coles Supermarket.
KFC.
Telstra Shop.
and plenty more with Target Country constructin underway soon.

"An exciting town!"

Sorell is great because existing there is like being transported back in time 50 or so years, where the charming value of "she'll be right" is still alive and practised unselfconsciously by the quaint and folksy local councillors. Some outsiders have described Sorell as a white-bread hick-town and most there would proudly and full heartedly agree with that description. Others have described the town as having only outdated and naive aspirations for the municipality but I think it would be better described as charmingly myopic and bereft of any modern cultural influences.

A safe place to bring up children with little danger of exposure to the disturbing influences of modern multicultural society to found a mere 20 minutes drive south of Sorell.

Highly recommended!

shame no answer came regarding this comment because I have no idea what is meant by a white-bread hick-town other than we have but, another disgusting "white" racist proclaiming superiority over other cultures ... Sad, sad, sad indeed to put out there that people within this community are of such bad taste. We are a culture embracing community and I for one will ensure that we continue to stay this way. I love this little "but very rapidly growing" town... I love its egalitarian culture, where we all just blend, elderly, solo parents, singles, couples and young families... from all walks of life and varying nationalities .... Sorell Is a beautiful place to live .. :-)
