Reviews of St Kilda West, VIC

"A hidden real estate gem!"

St Kilda West is a TINY suburb and easy to miss! What you will find when there are simply stunning properties . Large family homes adorn the tree lined streets but you will also find affordable options like one bedroom apartments. It's right on the water and transport into the city is a 15 min tram ride. Go check it out - you will love it!

Looking for a home in St Kilda West?

"St Kilda West is NOT St Kilda"

Despite the similarity in the name of the suburb and being directly adjacent to each other, St Kilda West and St Kilda are completely different.
St Kilda West is 99% residential with large tree lined avenues, grand period homes and is pretty much an extension of Albert Park/Middle Park. Once you cross Mary street on the east part of St Kilda West, you are almost in St Kilda (border is Fitzroy street) and the demographic and feel is completely different. If you want to live the 'beach lifestyle' that Albert Park/Middle Park has to offer but can't necessarily afford these suburbs prices (rent), then St Kilda West is the perfect hack.

"Real Village Spirit"

Varied and interesting people who lack the pretentious that can exist in expensive suburbs. I have always found this suburb to be a wonderfully, inclusive and involved community. Anyone whom you meet around the neighbourhood will always have a smile on their face and an interesting story to tell. From the local celebrities to the old guy down the road who has lived here for over 70 years and the wonderful Greek immigrants who run the local milk bar.

We no longer live here however still own our property as we cannot bring ourselves to sell and lose our connection to this gorgeous little suburb.

"Young professional people to retirees"

You can walk anywhere in St Kilda West, it is flat with wide tree lined streets. Can be busy on weekends with people visiting St Kilda, you can get by easily without a car. A mix of people live in St Kilda West from the super wealthy and famous to the everyday person who has lived here before it became such a sought after place to live. It is expensive to buy into the area but house prices increase steadily. We have always found it very safe and are quite happy walking about late at night. Because everything is so close and you can walk everywhere you need to go you do tend to get to know the neighbours, there is a strong community spirit.

Rentals in St Kilda West

"A nice beachside location"

St Kilda West is a nice area although there aren't as many tree lined streets as some of the surrounding suburbs. Perhaps thats just what I saw.

There is a great area for walking along the beach which is great if you are a walker, runner or cyclist.

There is a great weekend nightlife but that has its downside as well with more people around. This probably makes it betetr suited to younger couples and young professionals who still love the nightlife and don't want to have to go to far.

Its not far from Albert Park or the city and the area is well serviced by public transport.

There are a few good places to eat around.

For young families the beach would be great and there are some parks around the area but the ones I saw were a little dirty and made me worry about what may be lurking beneath the surface.
