"Holiday Haven"
Don't tell anyone about our "holiday haven". What a place to live. We can enjoy Westfield and Darby Street which are only 20 minutes away and then it's back for a surf or a swim to finish off the perfect day. No traffic, a sense of community, the summer north-easter, the beach, the beach, the beach. Did I mention the beach? It's just great!

"Holidays most of the time!"
We know the clean and green four stars might need some explaining with all the bad publicity surrounding Stocko at the moment but where we live in Stockton has the breeze from the beach and harbour and so the pollution problem of Stockton down the Ferry wharf, swimming pool area is no where near as bad as the other end of Stockton! Not much different than living in Newy itself actually?
We have local shopping at our doorstep and Newcastle and all its events, dining out and night life, up market gyms, beaches, shopping, just a minutes walk and ferry ride away but if we just want to get away with peace and quiet we stay home with swimming, surfing, fishing, boating, 4wd all at our doorstep! With wonderful paces to dine and takeaway right here in Stocko so we just stay home!
Good schools for families along with local sporting clubs and facilities.
Love it!

"Like living in a country town but with a sea breeze and close to city amenities"
You are not a true Stocktonian unless you have been born there, but so-called 'blow-ins' like myself (53 years residency) are generally readily accepted if they do not upset the status-quo. The afternoon northeast sea breeze in summer (called 'God's air conditioner') is a welcome relief on a hot day. Fishing is avaliable within walking distance from either the river, harbour, breakwater or beach. Stockton Beach with its surf club patrolled area would have to be one of the safest beaches for kids in the Newcastle area. The council owned Caravan Park (absolute beach frontage) has recently been upgraded to 4-star with 11 new quality cabins and 15 more to come. Boating facilities are at your doorstep with two dual river ramps - one with a pontoon and the other to be shortly upgraded with a pontoon. Grocery shopping is limited to the usual local supermarket but there is also good quality pub food with three hotels, plus a bowling club, an RSL club and even a Golf Club 5 minutes nearby.

"Country Living at city doorstep"
Stockton is a throwback to country living, quiet and slow. But has everything Newcastle can offer via ferry crossing every 15 minutes or 25min drive. Coal loaders can be noisy at night if the wind is blowing from that direction and some dust. Also some housing commission. Slowly being bought out. You can see a mercedes pull up next to a rusted out commodore.

"Lovely village with a city at your doorstep"
We moved to Stockton 4 years ago from Sydney and have never looked back. It has all the joys of beachside living with a good school, easy walking access to everything and if you want everything a city has it is only a 2 minute ferry ride away. It is like living in a resort. Love it.

"Quiet and convenient, beautiful location"
It's like holidays everyday! The feeling of being hours up the coast, yet 10 minutes drive to centre of newcastle, or even better a minute ferry ride! The beaches and harbour are endless with possibilities for recreation. Picnics, walks, fishing, bike riding, swimming, kite flying..... The scenery is spectacular, I love walking around the beach and harbour on a sunny day. We love it!
