This town is for people who enjoy peace and quiet and throwing a line in or a long walk along the esplanade. Plenty to do with house boat and boat hires, or go paddle boarding or kayaking at high tide. Plenty of local places to eat with the snack Shack as a personal favorite.

Tin Can Bay is a great place to live or visit. Boaties and fisherman love this place and one of the best things to do here is to feed the wild dolphins.

I'm an ex big city girl. I have been here for 6 years.

When I first came here I was not used to the small town mentality. You have to have strong boundaries as everyone wants to know your business. But in saying that this town has a big heart.

A lot of very old people here with a 1950's old school attitude. If you are a progressive type just ignore these people. My neighbors are horrific in this way. They don't respect boundaries and get offended and offensive if you ignore them. But they are the nosy, do gooder type.

Anyway like any place there is good and bad. Even though there are undesirables here I still feel very safe. After being here for a few years you just totally chill out.

I live on the foreshore and the view is beautiful. When you walk along the foreshore people are quite friendly.

Sunsets here are magical.

Tin Can Bay or TCB is a great quiet town. Great climate and safe for kids. Do not move here for shopping .....none, nightlife......none,crime......very little and of minor nature. But if you love the outdoors, you and your family will fall in love with TCB.

Despite the lack of retail therapy opportunities available in Tin Can Bay, unless of course you are into the regional markets circuit where bargains and rarities abound, this little piece of Paradise has a stunning natural beauty that compensates for everything it lacks.
The soft, beautiful sunrises & magnificent sunsets, the shimmering bay and the native bushland that surrounds us, never ceases to impress & amaze everyone that comes here.
Tin Can Bay is only a short boat trip to Fraser Island, in fact I have been there on a kayak, but of course you can sail or motor there.
Fresh seafood straight from the boats or, catch your own; absolutely succulent and delicious to eat
prawns, fish scallops, crabs & by the bay, at home or in a restaurant - the Black Cockatoo for instance - the best seafood and NOT expensive.
There is a sense of peace and tranquility here in Tin Can Bay, easy going people and the best climate. See you in Tin Can Bay soon.

I think Wallu is beautiful, the neighbours are friendly and rally behind each other. It is peacefull and safe. There is a nice mix of families and retirees. With all of Wally being small acreage yet only 10klms from Tin Can Bay it is the ideal Tree Change destination with all the Sea Change benefits thrown in as well. Property prices here are still reasonable compared with other areas of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, you can definately get a lot of bang for your buck here. With bus services for the children to get them to and from school and only a short drive to either Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach or Gympie and the Sunshine Coast it is a great place to live.

Rental prices are low, but sale prices grossly over valued given the location and lack of facilities in the area. Employment is all but none-existant with the main employers in the area being the Laminex Factory, Wollworths or smaller grocers who have reliable and long-term staff. Huge amounts for sale, properties look to be staying on the market for excessively long periods of time without chage in prices.

Long term residents are fantastic are friendly, there seems to be a very high turn over of "less pleasant" persons in the area though, the cost of living being a great deal lower than most country towns appears to attract those dependant on government handouts and not self-motivation.

Drugs whilst not obviously available are present and occassionally cause rows in rental properties (we lived next door to such persons)

Kids parks are lovely and maintained, BBQ facilities rarely work and its a really nice are for fishing - though persons setting crab-pots be wary that thefts are a nightly occurence and the police are powerless to intervene.

People seem incappable of controlling their pets (dogs) and they are often seen wandering without their owners.

I f your driving up the highway looking for a place to live Tin Can Bay maybe the place for you. There's all types of homes available at prices you may have seen 20 years ago in Noosa.
Tin Can has all the services,doctors, dentist, IGA, Woolworths, bank and ATM's that you've come to expect.
There's employment opportunities in a variety of industries like marine(catching,processing and fixing),forestry(nursey,counting,planting,harvesting,value adding and transporting) and if you don't mind a 35 minute drive(and if your from Sydney,Melbourne or Brisbane that's not long) you could work in Gympie.
The next few years will see enormous change in TCB, some very smart developers are securing their stakes now in residential and marina developments. This is your chance.
There's a very good local school that is growing rapidly because of the numbers of families moving to the area but our future lies in Aged Care.

To be honest Tin Can Bay did not do a lot for me, but that is purely my opinion. It probably did not help that the tide was way out and therefore a long stretch of muddy sand leading out to the river. I have seen pictures of Tin Can Bay with the tide in and it does look lovely.

At Tin Can Bay you are allowed to hand feed the dolphins. This is a big attraction for the area as there are only 3 places in Australia where you are allowed to do this.

It is a very strong fishing area as it is on an outreach of the Mary River that heads south and the land forms a small peninsular with the river on both sides. Quite a unique set up really. It is very safe for swimming for the little ones.

There is not a lot in the way of services here and most people would travel into Gympie for anything major. Gympie is some 60 klm drive inland.
