The better pockets of Trentham are the larger blocks further out of the main township. There, you may enjoy the tranquility of the countryside and still make use of the amenity that Trentham township has to offer. Buying opportunities are becoming fewer as all the prime pieces of land parcels that remain gradually get snapped up .. and good luck finding acreage further out because it's in short supply. There are still some good bargains to be had closer to town, but that's if you're ok with the quarter-acre-block-mentality and your fence abutting the next door neighbors' toilet piping, etc. The town itself has a few key areas of appeal. Namely, the 'country feel' as you coast along the main streets. But other aspects of it that are nice include the regular farmers' market, the Cosmo, the foodie options keep getting better, the supermarket has improved recently, the air is certainly as fresh as you can get, the parks are great, Trentham falls is close, lots of walking tracks, lots of wildlife and bird life in general, the people are friendly and there is a good community vibe to the place. Some amenities could be improved upon but it is certainly an up-and-coming country locale, in my opinion. (Side note: I am not a local, but wish I was!!! ... perhaps one day... if one of those larger blocks out of the main strip become available ...)

We have recently bought in Trentham and work from home. We absolutely love it. We like cycling and exploring the surrounding areas. It's close to everything we need. There is a kinder, primary school and buses to a choice of secondary schools in Kyneton and Woodend. The people are friendly and their are plenty of options to grab a coffee and eat out. Highly recommend the tree change.

Trentham was hosting the yearly spudfest and it was really enjoyable. The kids absolutely loved it. The people were friendly and there was something for everyone.

Trentham is well worth a visit and only an hour from Melbourne.

I love living in Trentham. My friends and family love visiting Trentham. It has a lovely surrounds. The high street has some great restaurants, country pubs and cafés. Trentham is on the doorstep of the wombat state forest. Kyneton, Woodend and Daylesford are all just 15-20 minutes away.
There is a Vline bus service that stops at Trentham milk bar and takes commuters to Woodend station and back which makes life much easier for those wanting to commmute to Melbourne. It's a beautiful area.

Trentham is a lovely country town. It is only 90 minutes from Melbourne, 15 minutes to woodend and Kyneton. It is a town well worth a visit. Not only is it picturesque, it has some of the best restaurants, pubs, bakeries and cafes in the area. If you like art, food and a beautiful location Trentham ticks all the boxes.
There are some splendid country walks starting in Trentham too.

I live in Trentham and have really enjoyed living here since moving from Daylesford to be a little bit closer to work in Woodend. My drive to work is only 15 minutes and is a really pleasant drive through gorgeous surrounds. My neighbours are friendly and have lived here for several years. There are plenty of nice places to get a good coffee and there are some great hotels and restaurants.
My parents also live in Trentham and have been really happy here for years. They really enjoy walking and there are some great walking tracks in and around Trentham such as the domino rail trail and the wombat trail.
Overall I think Trentham is beautiful place to live. It's clean and green, safe and what I really love is that it's a growing area with some really nice, enthusiatic and interesting people.
There is a local footy club, a kinder and a primary school. For secondary schools there are bus services to Kyneton where you have a choice of Kyneton secondary school and Sacred Heart. I shouldn't forget to mention the yearly spud fest. This is a really fun event for the town - definitely worth a visit.

I have lived in Trentham for just over 2 years now. It's clean and green. There are markets, restaurants, hotels and cafe's. I can drive to the station in 15-20 minutes. It's great to get away from the hussle and bussle of city life. I have never had any problems. Loving country life.

We have lived here for several years and are just in the process of moving into our brand new house. Can't wait. So far we have really enjoyed what Trentham and the surrounds has to offer. Never had any trouble just been enjoying the area and living in the country. The good thing is thst we are only a 25 minute drive to Woodend or Kyneton. Daylesford is not far at all so when friends stay we have plenty of places to visit. Our new neighbours are delightful and really friendly. The kids enjoy going out on their bikes and exploring the wombat state forest. It does get cold here in winter but so do many places in this area in winter. My husband commutes to Melbourne from Woodend 3 days per week and works from home 2 days. Our friends and relatives love going to the local cosmopolitan hotel. East Trenthsm is also really nice. They have the pig & whistle and plum tuckered inn. Definitely worth a try. For any visitors there is the beautiful St Clare in East Trentham that caters for events and is also a hotel. There are lots of really nice air bnb places in and around Trentham. I think there is something for everyone if you like the country life.

This small country town packs a lot of punch. It has several great cafe's and hotels. The red beard bakery is definitely worth a visit.
I'm into cycling both road and mountain biking and there are some really great routes. The wombat state forest has some superb mountain biking trails. I'm hoping that there will soon be a new cycling trail going all the way from hanging rock through woodend, tylden, Trentham and then on to Daylesford. This will be great for the locals but also boost tourism to the area too.
It's certainly is a beautiful part of victoria and not too far from Melbourne.

I moved to Trentham with my young family 5 years ago. Having lived in the macedon ranges and hepburn shire for over 10 years i love what the area around Trentham has to offer. There are some really nice towns in the area to visit, excellent winerys, it's a great area for outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, walking etc.
If you need to go to Melbourne then getting the train from Woodend is ideal and only takes just over an hour to Southerncross.
There us no natural gas in Trentham so most people have wood heaters during the colder months. When i lived in Macedon a few years ago it was the same. Lots of my friends in Woodend also have wood burners durung the winter months too. I suppose if gas does come through then people will swap over to ducted heating eventually. You really have to visit Trenthan to appreciate it's beauty. There are some great pubs and restaurants in Trentham we really are very lucky in that respect. I love the cosmopolitan hotel and the plough and have had to some great family get togethers there. Several friends love the area and are considering building here too.

Trentham is a great place for families. Not only is it a beautiful area to live...It has a primary school and for secondary schools there is Braemar in Woodend or Kyneton for Sacred Heart or Kyneton secondary school. The roads are quiet for cycling and walking. It has a regular farmers market, great cafes and eateries. There are many established artists in Trentham. Trentham has many fine eateries including acclaimed chef Annie Smithers' du Fermier and 3AW's 2014 Pub of the Year - The Plough @ Trentham, and Redbeard historic bakery (an artisan bakery). Trentham is a welcoming town bursting with renowned community spirit. All this is only a little over an hour from Melbourne, 20 minutes from Daylesford, Woodend and Kyneton where V/Line services can have you at Southern Cross Station in about an hour. Plus you get much better value for money when it comes to property in Trentham compared to nearby Woodend which is filling up with new housing estates on tiny blocks. What more could you ask for?

Trentham is a country town, that has recently had a lot of commuters move into it chasing the dream of a tree change. I am not sure who is writing these other reviews but the largest employer in Trentham is not an Alternative Lifestyle Magazine who moved to warmer pastures in Broome but is Koppers Arch, who produce wood that has been treated with CCA (Copper Chromium Arsenate). It's a known carcinogen and liver cancer, is a common problem but don't mention it to the locals, who have been living here for generations, because its JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. The factory is right in the middle of town and there have been several incidents already - children admitted to hospital for breathing problems when there was a leak, miscarriages, cows dying of drinking poisoned water, liver cancers, premature deaths.
The town is also notorious for pedophiles. and Rainbow Bird and Monster Man is a 2002 Australian documentary film tells the story of a Trentham boy's abuse, and when he returns to his hometown in 1995 to have his abuser charged and despite having a confession from the abuser himself, the police typically refused to initiate criminal proceedings. Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated story and really it's too gruesome to get into the dirty secrets of this town but let's say that it goes all the way to the top.
It's incredibly cold in Trentham and a number of the new houses were built on reclaimed land and not surprisingly have mould problems. In Winter, the place is completely covered in smoke. So it's not ideal if you have breathing problems. Some of the locals think burning pvc isn't so bad either. We had a plumber throw in PVC piping into a bonfire. The roads are dangerous and there is no shortage of sad stories of people losing their lives on them. Definitely not a place you want to be commuting from and there is no choice with public transport, which is literally non-existent with a bus in the morning and evening. Bushfires are a huge problem in Summer.
As for being gay, while we were there we saw a gay couple buy and sell up because of the intolerance. Similar story with racism. In fact, even a couple that bought the IGA were literally run out of town because they dared to challenge the status quo and didn't want to be robbed blind by employees and locals stealing stuff from them. The locals will tell you that you aren 't really a local unless you have a grandparent buried in the local cemetery. It's a funny old town. Now it has a hipster coffee drinking and cafe culture that rubs shoulders with the true blue locals that will find any opportunity to put newbies in their place.
The best bit of advice moving in, that I was given, "Keep to Yourself". Pity I didn't listen.

Trentham is a cool country village in the central ranges of Victoria midway between Woodend and Daylesford. Summers are usually pleasant with the temperature often approximately 8C cooler than Melbourne. Summer nights are usually pleasant for sleeping. Late autumn to mid spring months are wetter than summer and it isn't unusual for Trentham and the immediate area to receive 120 - 180mm in one or more of these months. Snow and sleet is recorded on average 12 - 13 days a year and nights of -4C in winter aren't unusual.

There are 2 buses from Trentham connecting to Woodend train station each day, the trains from Woodend to Melbourne are frequent, reliable and well patronised.

This is the prefect place for same sex couples to raise a family, be it children or pets. Great for those singal gays looking for peace and quite. Melbourne is 1 hour by car or VLINE bus runs many times a day taking you to and from Woodend or Kyneton train stations. The only thing missing from Trentham is gas. Leaning on electored government officials may help get the gas piped here. P.S make sure you buy in Trentham before.

Trentham is a small village that seems to be growing, while still maintaining a country feel. There is a brand new school and a feeling of community spirit.
