Reviews of Tylden, VIC

"Small town big heart"

Little working town with a big heart . Employment for miners in the working Quarry - bit of noise with the trucks. Can take a while to be accepted but good salt of the earth community, no frills and good Christian values. A corner petrol station for milk/bread and post office - nothing fancy but does the job. Supermarket and train station a 15 -20 minute drive into town. A bit damp and wet but with good heating can keep the cold at bay. Quiet and can be peaceful at times which is a plus. Some might say boring but we find it peaceful. You will fit in fine if you don't mind barracking for the Tylden tigers joining the CFA and put into the community.

"A little gem that most people pass through."

We came to Tylden to escape the rat race, and raise our kids in a happy, safe environment. Tylden Primary School is one of the best in the Macedon Ranges, with excellent facilities and teaching staff. Tylden has a great little friendly community. Tylden it is in easy reach of the surrounding towns of Woodend, Trentham and Kyneton and less than an hour to the Melbourne CBD by either car or train. This little gem of a town offers many things, and will impress anyone wanting some quiet rural living, where it is still safe to let your kids play outside in the street.

Great for

  • Quiet and safe for kids
  • Beautiful rural views
  • Large blocks of land, compared to Melb.

Not great for

  • Very little public transport, having a car is a must.
  • Cold climate and wood heating is expensive, there is no mains gas.

"Tylden provides a quiet pollution free enviroment to retire or raise a family..."

Tylden is situated 10min from Woodend and only 45min to Tullamarine airport. Tylden has a fantastic Primary School with a group of dedicated teachers who offer a high level of support and learning. For lunch or dinner stop by Noah's Inn Resturaunt who offer a delicious menu for locals and visitors 7days a week located in Tylden's main street. A beautiful town with surrounding fields of green and pure fresh air.
