Harris Park

"Up and Coming Village"

This place is a quiet little nest just off of Parramatta, with great transport and good schools. The train station gives quick easy access to the city (approx 30 min train ride in) and the M4/James Ruse Drive are easily accessible from the streets. In fact, the roads directly around this part heading towards the city (James Ruse -> M4) are very quick with minimal traffic.

Walking around here is refreshing with tree-lined streets and a friendly atmosphere. There's plenty of parks, historic places to visit and some houses which just look fantastic.

Late at night, the little town centre up the road still has enough people to keep the businesses open to fairly late. The Indian take-away and restaurants are awesome - and there's even Greek (award winning no less, its always packed!), Lebanese and Japanese food within strolling distance. If you're up for a 10-15 minute stumble though, all of Parramatta's clubs and pubs are just up the road.

Its close to Parramatta Station and Westfields (about 10 mins walk) which is great because you don't have to try and fight for a park. Rosehill Racecourse is just down the road if you're into that sorta thing -- though with a car you can realistically get anywhere you could from Parramatta without having to drive through the busy streets of Parra.

I lived in Holroyd Gardens before this, and I have to say I just love the peace and quiet that this place has given me. No more sounds of police cars roaring up and down the road, no more M4 noise (I live relatively far from the M4 itself, up around Alice St way) and no sound of trains.

Overall, I rate the place 8/10 -- its a fine place that will probably maintain its quiet lifestyle and old-fashioned looks as Parramatta takes off.
