Yangebup

"Subiaco to Yangebup...."

Ok, so it was always going to be a culture shock to move from a 2 bed flat in Subiaco to a 4 bed house in Yangebup, but as a young couple starting out with our first house purchase we had to go where we could get value for money. We found a lovely 4x1 on a quiet street in the old part of Yangebup on a big grassy block for under $450k - barely buys you a one bed flat in Subi.

So 5 months on did we might the right decision? Maybe...

We like our house, it has lots of potential - it does need updating to our tastes, and we'll get there one day with that. Our garden is lovely and it is very peaceful and quiet here, we don't have any traffic noise or "hoons". We don't really use the local shops as they do look quite run down, we nip over to the Beeliar IGA if we want something quickly or down to Gateways in 5 minutes for anything else. Public transport is a bit of a miss really, not frequent enough to make it that useable - so we drive to the station at Cockburn.

Our issues are that we miss the buzz of living closer to the City, being able to walk to the shops/bars/restaurants and it not being a mission of train and imaginary taxi to get back from the station late a night. It's meant one of us has to be designated driver if ever we want to go out on an evening. I'm sure if we fastforward a couple of years to when we have children the area will be perfect, but at the moment we still crave the inner-city!
