The Woodlands Estate/Stephens Place area of Somerville is the ideal place to raise a family. Lots of courts means no through traffic which is safe for the kids. The houses are on good sized blocks (many being a quarter acre - 2 acres) with plenty of trees and gardens - meaning more privacy for you. There is a milk bar within walking distance to the estate and a large leash free area for walking your dog. It's also within walking distance to the town center. Somerville in general is a great place - friendly locals, good schools and a great community spirit. Has a definite country feel yet is so close to everything - beautiful beaches are within a 10 minute drive as are many lovely wineries. The city is only a 50 minute drive away via Eastlink and the Monash or you can jump on the South Gippsland fwy and be at Phillip Island in no time. And with the new Peninsula Link fwy about to be built commuting time to Melbourne will be even quicker. Get in whilst house prices are still affordable - Somerville is on the way up!
