Bracken Ridge

"20mins to shopping or beach"

I had moved to this area about three years ago when I was transferred here through my work. The location was quite handy, as I needed to drive to the Sunshine Coast twice a week to visit clients. After initially renting a townhouse unit, I actually bought two properties here, one to live in and one to rent out. I must say that I regret that decision to this day, as it makes moving more difficult when it turns out your neighbours' lifestyle is different to yours. My investment property at the other end of Bracken Ridge also had some problem tenants who did a runner after failing to pay the rent repeatedly and fixing the damage caused by them. Apart from that, it is quite a nice suburb, with Coles and Woolies at two separate locations. Would I be moving there again? Probably not. I like it quiet and I found especially young parents really selfish.
I managed to sell both properties, even though it took a very long time but at least I got most of my money back.

Great for

  • Close access to gateway, sunhine coast and airport and city (by car)
  • Wide leafy flat streets

Not great for

  • Hooning (mostly at night)
  • Some commission housing
  • Real concern about reckless driving and illegal car modifications (often P-plater)
