Mosman Park

"Precious but Pricey"

Mosman Park is a beautiful suburb, amongst several other prestigious areas - Cottesloe, Peppermint Grove. Many properties are near or even have their own the breathtaking river views. It is well know for its elite schools, namely St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls and also IONA, and hence attracts many wealthy families to this area. It has great transport links and isn't too far from the infamous Cott beach. Social life brings many mums together at Gill St Cafe and to the near by Napoleon street, which is home to several boutiques and cafes right outside Cottesloe station. There are also some boutiques and restaurants outside of Mosman Park Station. Although this is all very attractive it does come at a cost, with the median house price in Mosman Park being amongst the highest. The high cost comes at the convenience for those who attend near by schools or work within the suburb.

Great for

  • Clean and Green
  • Beautiful views of the river
  • Transport access.

Not great for

  • Some dodgy areas
  • Very expensive

My dream place to live. I pass this beautiful, riverside suburb every morning on my commute and long to live on one of it's water access properties. With a high performing state school, close proximity to the CBD and Garden City shopping Center. This is the the ideal location.

"Classy"

A lifestyle, modern and beautiful. A little short on land, but I guess that says something for the demand. Great social life and standard of living in it's true economical sense. Wealthy, professionals and couples.

"Good, lots of potential"

Growing developments, this area is sure to have a growth in median prices over the next five years. close parks, facilitating boys cricket, playgrounds, dog walks. Although some parts are dodgy. Friends who live here love it and find their neighbors very friendly.

Great for

  • Close to rockingham and Waikiki
  • Great potential for renovators and rentals
  • Cheap,

Not great for

  • You must know which street to buy in, some streets can be totally different to others.

In my experience, the area is rapidly gentrifying. The influx of government infrastructure is a real positive for the region. There were some parts with undesirables in the old 3x1, but they are getting priced out with the rents going through the roof.

Rockingham

"Potential"

If I had to rate rockingham in it's current position I'd probably give it a 3.5, although it's expansion of beach development and rising prices makes a great place to buy now and reap the future benefits of wealth, so I rate it a 4 stars.

Great for

  • Some good tourist attractions (penguin island, seal island, safety bay windsurfing)
  • Friendly, Great Murdoch Uni close to Rockingham
  • Beautiful beaches

Not great for

  • Some dodgy areas, but there is hope

Hello, which areas are the " dodgy" ones as i am looking to buy a property in Perth and wouldnlile to know what area to avoid. Thanks

josephe1

There are no dodgy areas , people that say that are living in the past, virtually crime free now , Rockingham is head and shoulders above any other suburb for coastal living

Waikiki

"A perfect balance"

Waikiki is a beautiful place, especially within it's estates (Harrington Waters). This suburb has a relatively new primary school- Waikiki primary as well as a highly reputable, friendly and community focused school, South Coast Baptist College, which also has well recognised early learning childcare centre. My 6 years of experience in Waikiki has brought me a great lifestyle, near to the beach, close to parks, friendly neighbors and great church community. this suburb seems to have a perfect balance of relaxation, work, proximity, beach, restaurants, transport links and family and friends. A humble place, with much room to grow.

Great for

  • Harrington waters estate, beautiful, central and friendly
  • Very friendly
  • Good value for money

Not great for

  • Doesn't have a central cafe strip
