"Surf Street, Wouldnt Recommend To Anyone.."
Surf street is one of the worst streets in Port Macquarie PERIOD. It is full of the cheapest rentals available other than Community Housing which has a list so long most people are forced to wait for community options..
Cars are stolen quite regularly and theft and drug dealing is quite frequent in this area.
Not a good place for a family or kids but if you don't mind keeping all your items locked up at night (like i have too less then 600m away) and listening to yahoo's all night then i suppose the cheap rent and closeness to the beach is a positive.
For cheap rent and a much safer, calmer area i would certainly recommend East Port or Lighthouse Beach if the price isn't as much of a issue.
Only very select tiny pockets. 99% of Port Is fantastic..especially compared to the city that is
I moved up here from sydney 5 years ago and wow has it grown !! Lighthouse beach is the best suburb here in port , it's like the Watson bay of port lol . I didn't know that it was until I settled and explored the town but now I know why . My street alone had had 8 new families move up with easy access too everything you need . Beautiful beaches walking tracks cafes resteraunts . Coles etc , new pet store dog friendly beach a bus , golf club tavern chemist bottle shop , camel rides on the beach , 4 wheel driving . Fantastic for kids n very safe . It's got Kmart opening soon and most of everything you need . Ironically Sh pub n there's nightlife n clubs with views . Not a lot of choice as a major city but it's booming big time . I'd personally suggest lighthouse beach . Schools, preschools abd yoyr trivia lol ! My neighbours are great ! There is a sense of community here though it's really a family and couple place . I wouldn't recommend it for single folk ! The Uni is another addition and there's plenty of beautiful spots for the family
Hey Davo, this review was very interesting as I'm thinking of relocating to Port Macquarie later in the year. Is it only that particular area that's bad? Other reviews I've read on http://money.ninemsn.com.au/suburb.aspx?suburbID=35892 say really positive things about Port Macquarie.....
Any other information you can provide would be really helpful.
