Roma

"Great Community, Not So Good Everything Else"

I have lived in Roma for about three years and while i love the community and how willing to help everybody is, there are a lot of cons to living here. The rental prices are through the roof and some of the houses are nearly inhabitable! yet you could still pay more than you would for a NICE house on the coast! There is not really anywhere particularly good to eat, just standard hotels and even the one 'nice' restaurant is a complete rip off for the quality you get. There are two clubs, but even if it were worth a night out, there is no babysitting service in town!! Almost NO shopping, and things are expensive compared to the city as there is no competition. Worst of all are the floods! If you are going to live here be sure you have insurance, as half the town has been under 3 times in less than as many years. However, when something like this happens, the community really does pull together and people go out of their way to help you, friend or stranger. Now, enough negatives, I am from the city and the slowwwww pace of life is here is not for me, I find it rather boring, but if you enjoy it and don't mind travelling for a bit of livliness, then Roma really does have something about it, the 'Roma Coma' will suck you in and i think it has something to do with the people! Wages are good, although rental prices are relative. National Parks nearby are amazing, if you want to live here be sure you drive! Also if you walk through the streets at night you tend to get followed by dogs...and Mosquitos!!
