Mascot

"Friendly and Close to everything"

Had reservations about moving from Marrickville to Mascot but was pleasantly surprised.
Mascot has a great friendly community spirit and made up of a diverse range of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
It has it's own comprehensive shopping strip which includes fast food and restaurants and is only 10-15 minutes from other shopping & restaurant precincts like Newtown, Alexandria, Marrickville, Surry Hills, Kingsford and Eastgardens.
Also handy to the eastern suburb beaches.
Sure there is aircraft noise but it is not as bad as Marrickville or other suburbs in the inner west which constantly have the larger international jets shaking the house. Depending on wind direction/weather there can be many consecutive days in a row without them in Mascot.
The council maintains the parks and streetscapes of suburb well and most residents seem to be house proud.
An overdue redevelopment of the Eastlakes shopping centre is coming which will benefit Mascot and other surrounding suburbs.

Great for

  • Friendly community
  • Plenty of access to shops, cafe's and restaurants
  • Close to Alexandria & Moore Park Homemaker Centres
  • Beach is not too far
  • It is in the easter suburbs and still cheap for what you get
  • Train, bus and roads to city, M5 are all good.
  • Train fare to the city is very reasonable now.

Not great for

  • Not as fashionable as surry hills and rosebery but its developing fast.
  • Occasionally hear a plane or two
