Tumut

"One of the best towns that I have lived in & hoping to move back there soon!"

We loved living in Tumut & was sad to leave. My kids loved the school that they were attending & my young son enjoyed his time at the daycare centre. I found the people very friendly & approachable, especially the school teachers. My eldest son has a disability which was well catered for, both educationally & medically. I spent time in the local hospital & found the staff very accommodating. In regards to retail, I found that there was quite a suffient amount of variety. I used to make the trip to Wagga (about an hour away) once a fortnight or so if I wanted anything in particular that couldn't be found locally or I wanted to shop at the major stores like Big W, Kmart etc.
The Golf Club, The Bowlo & The Woolpack Pub have really nice food & a great atmosphere if you want to dine out. Recreaction wise, the kids loved going camping, fishing & boating on Blowering Dam & in winter we would shoot down to Selwyn for a day in the snow. My kids & hubby were also involved in local sport, yes, even my son with a disability.
All in all, I think Tumut is a friendly, beautiful country town that is very livable, for those who compare it to the 'big city' with it's lack of nightlife, well.....what do you expect from a country town?! If you miss the nightlife, then it's probably not the place for you.
