Byford

"Wonderful place to raise children"

I was raised in Byford. We moved there in 1966 and had an acre block at the top of Park Road, near the "Pit" (disused quarry). I have fond memories living in (then) a quiet country town, which had about 200 population. Most people had chickens and some had horses. There was and still is a trotting community in Byford. I worked locally and had friends all over town. We attended Byford Primary School, then bussed to Armadale for high school. We would spend summer days at the Pit, or in cow paddocks making daisy chains or at the beach. Winter was for holidays and cutting firewood up at Jarrahdale. My Mother still lives on Byford, so our family has been there for 49 years. We loved Byford and still do.

Great for

  • Kangaroos often visit.
  • Nature close by!
  • Still small country town feel.

Not great for

  • Getting too much like Armadale.
  • New areas have no character.

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees
  • Country Lovers
