George Town

"Bought a house love it.But apart from Woolworths, Patchwork shop,2 hairdressers and cottage Hospital that is all that is avaiable."

Love the house we bought and feel that George Town Council could do so much more....

The very limited amenities mean you have no choice but to drive to Launceston for Bunnings ,Restaurants,Cinema and Clothing shops.
We need more to offer our next generation.

On Goulburn St in the middle of a residential street there is a dump where bricks, wood, glass you name it its dumped there with the wire fence round it right up to the footpath so it must be council owned.

Yet Harcourt and Gardiner Builders are trying to sell land for new houses to be built.

The wonderful friendly people deserve far more than what the council have done!

We were warned that it was like the wild west a few years ago so hope that more people will move to the area and bring some wonderful ventures to the shopping mall.
And a Man Shed would do so well for the men of George Town who no doubt would love to share their skills.

So if your looking to buy property or business fantastic but accept that there is a lot yet to give to this wonderful town.

The friendliness of the people is fantastic.

The problem with small town shopping is not limited to George Town, it's universal across much of Australia. Even if rents are lower in small towns, retailers' purchasing power is limited, so they have to charge more, so people drive to the "big smoke" for better prices.

Pleased to say that George Town in the summer is lovely .
Had a new driveway put in and my back garden looks better by having trees planted and an irrigation system put in so dont have to worry about the garden when away .
Everyone is lovely and friendly and recommended it to family and friends wanting a sea change .
Still would like a few extra shops but who knows what can happen in the future.
Still think George Town is lovely to live in .

Update finished doing our fencing round the property changed from wood to Colour bond
Georgetown has really changed over the last 18 months and very community focused .
Property value has gone up as have rental .
It still costs a lot for workman to do jobs in Georgetown . But then you dont have Sydney prices .
Best advice if you want to be mortgage free Georgetown is perfect . Its a hidden gem and would recommend to move here while you can afford a property Mortgage free either built or deposit and pick your property design.
