Kincumber

"Not Bad, Not Bad."

Kincumber is on the rise.
It's a bit of a trek from some parts of the Coast but it's quite self-contained with a good shopping centre with some good restaurants.
There are some Houso areas to be aware of but overall its a solid suburb.

Gosford

"Massively on the improve. Get in now while you can."

We moved to the Coast from Sydney 15 years ago and would laugh about Gosford and the weird bogans that lived there. We always shopped in Gosford but some people we knew were too scared to shop there. We would go to a family concert in Kibble park and be amused and horrified at the local dero's but go to the same concert NOW and everone is normal and you will be lucky to see on freaky family. Gosford is absolutely booming now and the Gosford waterfront is very popular with people exercising during covid.
Its pretty safe now tbh.....i did have to give some presumably ice addicted fool a flogging at 9am a few years ago after he crashed his Motorbike into my car, when he got abusive but apart from that incident its been plain sailing.....and that Gentleman will be ALOT more polite to people in the future. You can see the improvement in the quality of the people walking around now and its indicative in some of the fantastic Restaurants in Gosford now. Its also much more multicultural now.......I employ 10 Asian staff and they are all happy and relaxed in Gosford and love the Korean BBQ and quality Thai restaurants. **Note to non Coasties.......be careful of North Gosford as there are still some issues there but its massively improving.

Wyoming

"Its pretty good here."

Wyoming gets a bad rap.
If you go to the shopping centre and see the grubby souls from the Caravan Park you might think are in Wilmot or Shalvey or Mt Druitt...............but that doesnt do justice to an up and coming suburb.
Just 5 Mins from the centre of Gosford yet quiet in its own right.
This suburb has some fab restaurants and cafes....seriously good!
It also has a well respected Catholic School.
The fact that the number one Thai Massage shop on the Coast just opened Wyoming Thai Massage says alot about the locals believe in the area.
Get in now while you can because Gosford is about to boom and Wyoming is the closest unpolished diamond.

Chatswood

"Bit of a dogs breakfast"

I lived in Chatswood for 12 months and wouldn't choose to live there again mainly because of the congestion. It can take 45 just to pick up a pizza if you drive on the weekend.
Housing is very over priced.
Public transport is good and I nearly always felt safe.
It may help to speak Mandarin which suited me as I love Asian culture but it grated on my wife occasionally.
Shopping is good although the Chase is a bit of a white elephant.

Great for

  • Convienent for public transport, banks, health and motor insurance offices, motor registry, tax office customer service
  • Great Transport
  • Lots of shopping
  • Near the City

Not great for

  • Cost
  • Noisey and a lots of traffic.
  • Renting and shopping is expensive

Kariong

"Family friendly oasis"

Been living here for a few years now and love the place. Quiet and trouble free (a pleasant change from Sydney). There is everything you need here, shops and facility wise. Schooling and preschools are of a very high quality.
Only minutes to a multitude of beaches. Kids love Umina and Ettalong and we love Terrigal and Avoca.
Only thing lacking are some high quality restaurants (Thai takeaway is quality). The two new cafes are both very solid and cafe at mt Penang is good spot for interstate quests.
Very few negatives compared with most places I have lived in Sydney.

Great for

  • Family friendly.
  • Brilliant child care and good schooling.
  • Low crime rate

Not great for

  • Lack of quality restaurants

  • Beach Lovers

Its not like they are roaming around the suburb you plum!
Locked up behind 20ft fences so its a pretty irrelevant comment. I'd imagine it employs quite a few local people.
