Doncaster

"Geographically Gifted Elevated Inner Eastern Suburb!"

Relatively close to the city from 12km at its closest point to 16km at its far end and easy access to just about anywhere in Melbourne and on the way up in more ways than one!

Public transport is nowhere near as bad as described by some and is in fact better than some places which already have trains because Doncaster is a small suburb which is close enough to the Box Hill station via a short bus ride so no need to drive to a station as many have to in their own suburbs with trains. It is also very close to many of the top private schools in neighbouring Boroondara. Box Hill and Austin hospitals and Epworth Private in Box Hill a short distance and one of the best shopping centres in Melbourne plus a huge park all within easy reach to all residents and even walking distance for many make it a very attractive place to live.

Easier access to Melbourne University which is the top university in Victoria, Box Hill Tafe nearby, except for peak times (but where in Melbourne's suburbs do you not struggle?) during the week access to the CBD and all the great places in Fitzroy, Collingwood and Carlton can take as little as 12-15 mins. without paying any tolls unlike the monstrous journeys from other suburbs which are unlucky enough to just be in the wrong place.

Property values have risen above a median of $1,000,000 and are destined to rise further due to the suburb's proximity to nearby or adjoining blue chip suburbs and with the amount of foreign investment in development sites in recent times it can only get better.

I entered "trendy and stylish" to my list because of the numerous apartment developments which would obviously attract people of that description.

The new estate coming to the Eastern Golf Club land will be interesting to say the least.

Great for

  • Leafy
  • The lifestyle is enjoyable, easy and safe...

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Trendy & Stylish

I think they typically use the central point as the distance to CBD so that's 14km.

Public transport wise the Vic government is creating the new suburban rail loop and Doncaster is planned to get a train station so that should improve public transport in the area.

Melbourne University's main campus is in Parkville on the other side of the city and the closest MU campus to Doncaster is Burnley which is like 10km's away. Are you saying easy access to Burnley?

Mr Boombastic, Parkville is on the northern edge of the city and directly west of Doncaster and much easier to get to than Burnley.

Mr.Boombastic, you dont seem to have a good sense of direction. Look at a map please?

As for a train, Doncaster is still closer to a train at Box Hill compared to many other suburbs which are larher in area and parts are further away from their own station.
