Breaker Street

"Ideal Location"

Braker St runs east west from Tedder Ave to the Beach. Any property in or just off Breaker St is an easy level walk to the Tedder Ave shops or the beach. Most highrise in Breaker St have ocean views. In particular if you can find a unit in quality buildings like Contessa or the Inlet. I note Contessa also enjoys a river frontage and has a private marina with a number of privately owned marina berths. There is a couple of walk up lowrise blocks of units which are ideal for those not wanting to have to pay for all the facilities in a highrise. You can walk to anywhere from Breaker St including the Yacht Club and Surf Life Saving Club - both have excellent food and fantastic views.

Main Beach

"Main Beach - best position on the coast"

If you live in Brisbane Main Beach is perfect for a weekend apartment. It's a 50 minute drive from Brisbane's CBD. There is plenty of first class eateries in Tedder Ave. The Yacht Club and Surf life saving club are both in Main Beach and easy walking from anywhere in Main Beach. Plenty of up market shopping at Marina Mirage. You can buy the best prawns and seafood directly from the trawlers at the fishermens co-op at Main Beach. You never need to go near Surfers if you live at Main Beach. However Surfers Paradise is an easy walk either along the beach or the excellent walkway. There is a beautiful Park adjacent to the life saving club with excellent BBQ facilities and well equipped play ground. The price of real estate is far less volatile in Main Beach due to its popularity with owner occupiers. Main Beach has been quite un affected by the sell off and price fall of units that has occurred in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. If the proposed development of an ocean terminal and boutique casino go ahead at the Spit property will become very valuable at Main Beach.

Great for

  • It may be more expensive, but it is worth it not to have the massive volatility of Surfers Paradise
  • Awesome beach
  • Great location
  • Friendly people

Not great for

  • It is expensive but this is expected

Seventh Avenue

"The best of the avenues"

Seventh Ave follows one of the highest ridges in St Lucia, properties on the city side of the street enjoy very private north east aspects, most with views of the city. Seventh Ave is well within the Ironside state school catchment area and is about 300m from the school. It is less than 400m to the St Lucia village shops and 500m to the UQ campus. Seventh Ave is totally flood free as it sits 100m above the river. Seventh Ave is a quiet tree lined street where St Lucia's most valuable real estate is. In fact there are many multimillion dollar homes in Seventh Ave but rarely come up for sale. It is fair to say Seventh Ave would be the first choice of the avenues if you have the money, but it is very tightly held.

St Lucia

"The best of everything"

St Lucia has good access to the best schools, Ironside state school, St Peters, Brisbane boys college. Having the the Uni campus on your door step is like having a country club on your door step, Olympic pool, tennis courts, and many sports ovals, restaurants, cinemas, libraries and book shops, a first class St Lucia golf course and restaurant, Indooroopilly Golf Club. St Lucia is well serviced by public transport, including City Cat, regular buses, green bridge, Toowong rail station near by. There are many walking and bike tracks around the golf courses and UQ. The Village in Hawken Drive is full of different eateries as well as one of the best IGA supermarkets. The huge, soon to be extended Indooroopilly shopping town is near by with everything from department stores to cinemas. St Lucia is less than 5km from the CBD and 1.5km from the Wesley Hospital. St Lucia has it all so close to the city.

Great for

  • Close to the city
  • Ironside state school
  • UQ
  • Leafy and green
  • Plenty of good shopping
