Ryde

"Ture place that closes to EVERYWHERE"

I am talking about a place that geographically at the central of great Sydney (within 13km from City). With lots of newly build house and very good Shopping Centre. Within 20 mins by Car, you can reach most of the POI around Sydney (only complain is a bit far to beach which takes longer to reach)

Transport to City is good, bus to city almost every 5 mins with express route during peak hours from Shopping Centre, such as 515, 518, 518, 501, 520, alternatively park you car at West Ryde and jump on the train.

Living expense is not the cheapest however totally affordable, there are 4 Woolworth around this area, Located at Macquarie Centre, North, Top and West Ryde. Most stuff can be found at New Top Ryde City. Forget to mention Sydney Market is only 15min by Driving if want to buy really cheap fruit & vegies. DFO is even closer if you want some discount brand stuff. IKEA located at Rhodes also can be reached in less than 10min driving.

For outdoor activities, 5 mins driving to Putney water front park for picnic or walk to the local park which is great place for kids to play.

No night life identified so far apart from local Pub or TAB however there are a few restaurant at top ryde or west ryde provide decent food open quite late during week days. Or try Eastwood since many Korean and Chinese shops & restaurant in that area. I watch night match at Olympic Stadium once or twice a month at homebush, again 10 mins driving. Of course you can enjoy 3D movie in Hoyts at night also.

Schools is not superb over other area but you feel happy to send you kids to there. Similar to the Medical Centre, GP’s skill is not bad either. Nearest hospital is Ryde hospital, 10 min driving to Concord Hospital. 20min to Royal North Shore Hospital, 30min to Westmead Hospital.

No comment about demographic, there are heap of resources for this kind of research. The feeling I have is the whole area is renovating itself. New park build, new house build, new apartment build, new shopping centre build, such as North Ryde, West Ryde, Rhodes, Top Ryde. Not sure about the property market but definitely better than average.

For olders, there are a few retirement village operating, which I am too young to expeirence. The Ryde council is quite good in terms of planning, managing and maintaining local community.

Great for

  • Close to most of the places
  • Self renovating
  • Good potential

Not great for

  • Far from beach
  • A little crowded

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees
