Muswellbrook

"Nice country town that is affordable but are steadily going up due to growth."

I just read some of the negative reviews from people who temporarily calling Muswellbrook home. I have lived in Muswellbrook for 3 years from the coast of all places. I too have lived in many towns and Muswellbrook is pretty good. People complain about the retail therapy lacking but Muswellbrook is a country town so there is no Westfield shopping centre, but we do have Big W, Coles, Woolworthes, Franklins, Best and Less, Reject Shop, Harvey Norman, Just Jeans, Williams Shoes, Boutique clothing shops plus many many more just to name a few. If these do not suit your needs Singleton and Scone are 1/2 hour away with more choices or 1.5 hours you can be parked in the Westfield shopping centre in Newcastle. Muswellbrook has a friendly country atmosphere, people will say hello and chat to you when out, neighbours will introduce themselves when you move into their neighbourhood or they move into yours. There are many school choices in Muswellbrook there are two primary schools and one catholic primary school, there is one High school but 10 minutes down the road is the Catholic high school at Aberdeen or if you would prefer from K-12 is Scone Grammer School which has buses from Muswellbrook and is half an hour away. Many families also find the convenience of Newcastle University being only 1.5hr away handy as well. There is public transport of a bus service here in town as with the CityRail Hunter train line which goes all the way through to Scone but allows you access to Newcastle and even to Sydney Central Station by swapping trains at Newcastle.
Muswellbrook is going ahead steadily in property prices due to growth of industry. There are lots of mines in Muswellbrook with one new one due to start in December and also the largest BHP mine is expanding its coal production as well.(The coal dust problem someone else commented on is not where near that bad where I live but he may live next door.) There is a new power station about to be built as well to add to the two that are already here. These are not the only industries in Muswellbrook it is very diverse. As the town grows there will be more things that will come to town.
The only area I would not reccommend living is any street off and including Wollombi Road. This is where it is a bit rough. Other than that it is not different to other towns.
Muswellbrook is a nice place to live I have lived many worse places in Australia. It has everything you need and anything else is all within reach. There are loads of jobs and lots of money to be made.

There are no shoe shops in Muswellbrook - Big W only if you want shoes. No Just Jeans either. most boutique clothes shops have closed. LMAO. Yes, highlight the mines - but make a point of leaving out the filthy black dust as a result of them. Many people don't know/think of that part of it. AND there are many smart alec drop kicks coming in with employment in the mines. Earning good money, but have the attitude they're brain surgeons and treat/speak to you like crap.

Lmao coal dust, there is none. Check the PMI index, cleanest air you could want for a country town. Also, mines are outer-rim Muswellbrook, your clearly living dead-end if you're at a mine. Finally, what do you mean they talk like brain surgeons? Minies are just trying to do their job, who and why are you conversing with them?

Too funny Huntsagamez. The 'clean air' leaves a BLACK covering on my kitchen floor that I am forever washing. I wake up with black gunk in the corner of my eyes, that has gone into MY system and comes out later. Don't spread your BS mate, there are people out there who want genuine answers not your total BS!! No minies (NOT all, but most!) have an attitude of self importance that overides the rights of neighbours. Overlording with an insistence of silence yet have no qualms playing loud music at 1 am when they feel like it!! Frankly your BS and bullying tells me YOU work for the mines and are a good example of what I say!!
