Macquarie Fields

"A much nicer suburb than has been portrayed."

I rather begrudgingly moved from the eastern suburbs to Macquarie Fields eighteen years ago to purchase my first home. At the time I worked in the Sydney CBD so road and rail services were of primary consideration together with affordability. During the ensuing years I have really come to appreciate the assortment of community facilities Macquarie Fields has to offer such as various sporting ovals, aquatic centre, tennis courts, simmo's beach recreational area, quality and varied schooling options, college of Tafe, a Library, community centre, Woolworths, Coles and Aldi supermarkets, Target, Chemist Warehouse several medical centres, optometrists and many other assorted retail outlets.

Also Macquarie Fields is far less expensive to purchase real estate in comparison to the neighbouring suburbs of Glenfield and Ingleburn. Then should the need arise Liverpool and Campbelltown are an easy drive or train ride away. Macquarie Fields also has it's own ambulance, police and fire stations, not that I've needed to utilise any of these facilities myself thankfully :) as my family and I have never experienced any of the negatives portrayed in the media. Our quiet street is a mix of cultures both professional and retired individuals and also couples with young children, all of whom exhibit a friendly and community minded disposition.

After eighteen years residing in the area, I can honestly say we have never experienced crime of any form in our street and I feel safe and comfortable within the suburb. Macquarie Fields is most definitely a much nicer community with a vast majority of decent hardworking residents and certainly not the crime ridden ghetto portrayed by past media stigmatisation and perpetuated by wider ignorance.
