Roma

"A great place to raise a family"

My husband and I moved here 21 years ago expecting to stay 3 years. We love it! Very relaxed lifestyle, only one set of traffic lights, everything is within 5 minutes drive. Rental prices are going through the roof unfortunately with the booming oil and gas industry, but house prices are still low enough for young couples to buy their first home. Very low unemployment. If you want to work in Roma, you'll find a job. Great schools, heated town pool, walking tracks, every kind of sport you can imagine (with the possible exception of ice sports!). Only an hour flight to Brisbane (28 flights a week), close to the Carnarvon Gorge. Very hot in summer (up to 43 degrees), very cold in winter during the nights (down to minus 4), but beautiful winter days. Lots of clubs, groups and churches to join. Plenty of pubs and eating places. Friendly people, community minded.
