Dandenong

"Great for young couples or families, very affordable, just avoid the CBD."

One of my favourite things about Dandenong is the choice of multicultural foods. I've not heard of any other place (aside from Melbourne CBD) with African, Afghan, Thai, Chinese, Indian and so on all within easy reach. I love Little India near the train station with all its quirky little shops, although I would not recommend walking this area at nighttime. I would also not recommend renting or buying in immediate vicinity of the station or main shopping areas. Although I have seen a huge improvement since I was a teenager the area is still not safe. Dandenong North is a nice, livable area away from the hustle and bustle and is a much better choice for families. There are some nice new apartment buildings going up around the place with modern security features which would be an excellent choice for working couples. I would not recommend singles live anywhere in Dandenong. Singles are better off further out in Cranbourne, Berwick or Langwarrin. If you are moving to Dandenong use your common sense, stay away from trouble-makers and don't walk around at nighttime.
