I spent the entire day out and about in Flemington today and all I came across was a lovely grandmother taking her grandchild for a walk, a guy running with his dog and some Salvos collecting for a boxing day appeal. All were friendly and said hello. Didn't see any "gangs constantly roaming the streets", nor have I ever seen this. There are some sorry souls at the public plaza on Racecourse road at times, but this is not so much intimidating, but more sad. Your post is no reflection of a great suburb.

I dont know about you G03, but I agree with Mrrich 100%, we moved last winter in Flemington, from Carlton and this was our big mistake, 2 weeks after we've moved someone broke in to our car. Yes, most of the ppl are friendly, but for me is not safe in Flemington.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience Lidia, but I think you will find crime anywhere. Nearly 10 years off and on for my wife and I in Flemington and never have I felt unsafe. Maybe get to know your neighbours better and look out for each other - might make you feel safer. I lived in Carlton in my uni days an had my house broken into twice and had issues with the junkies down the street. Everyone will have bad experiences from time to time in any suburb, I guess it is about taking positive measures to make you and your family feel safe. Mr rich let me give you some wake up facts. First the housing commission in flemington is home to large Somali Muslim refugees. There is no alcohol,nudity,drug in Muslim communitues... Secondly there are at least 10 businesses run by Somalis in racecourse rd alone!.. if Somali Muslim were gangs,forget about racecourse rd,the whole flemington suburb would Been no go zone.. i don't know which American gang movie you just watched..but it shows you want all white flemington which is nothing but dream.wake up and smell the roses it's 2017 Mr rich .. Somali population in flemington is very large but thanks to their Islamic faith it's rare to see a Muslim having alcohol or drug issues &they are less likely to be homeless little alone disturb neighbors..

The whole flemington business district(racecourse rd,) is stone throw away from housing commission.you can sit outside the cafes and see the housing commission,so were the gangs you talking about,there wouldn't be any businesses on racecourse rd if There were gang problems in housing commission.. use your common sense Mr rich. Its clear you have issue of diversity in flemington

I come from a Muslim country, where they hang people for alcohol, nudity or whatever you named, still people do that all! So stop leaving bully messages under every single comment that does not agree with your idea about the neighbourhood. Here is Australia and people are free to say what is on their mind as long as they are not a bully!

To my surprise you are the one who has moved here and then you ask others to leave the neighbourhood if they do not agree with something! probably you need to have more respect for the country and people who let us call Australia our home! Who are we to ask people to leave where they were born or grew in!?
