Cowra

"Honestly, there is very limited opportunity here unless your 3rd generation born and bred"

Honestly,i moved to Cowra 18mnths ago for a better life for my kids. The people are very friendly.I love the people here. But some people are just terrible sticky beaks. You cant apply for a job without them wanting your full family history. And if they dont know your parents and there parents and so on,you have little chance for a job,or even friends for that matter. In saying this, some of the people are the nicest people you will ever meet, but they are set in there ways. Its a small country town.Everyone knows your business,if you have something for sale EG a motorbike, people will call and want to know your last name, your parents name, where they where born and all the other stuff you probably wish they wouldnt ask.The school is lovely, teachers very friendly.Traffic can get terrible on the main street when people drive like they are confused constantly.Very little in the way of fine dinning if you would like a extra special night out.If you want to go to the movies the closest decent movies is at Orange, over 1 hour away. The only major shop is Target. If you want Kmart etc you need to go to Orange.I live 28 min out of town so for me,i am so over living here. All i do is pay for fuel,as i need to drive my daughter into school everyday.Moving into town was not an option either as the crime rate is high....Its been all too much for me.I loved the quiet lifestyle, and the local Tafe is fantastic, but the high electricity bills(cant get integral up here),high petrol due to so much travel, stickybeaks, and low employment has given me no choice but to move.
Oh and did i mention the DUST.The horrid DUST.You will have to dust at least once per day,and dont own a dark car as they always look so dirty.DONT MOVE HERE

Yes I do agree, when you apply for a job in Cowra you have to know someone to get in, I find the Police very lazy and we dont have a 24hour police station, some places give you lousy service, but make the best of a bad situation, most people very friendly, but dont venture to the townhouse, too violent. Also not to keen walking the streets of a night, lowlifes wait for people to leave clubs and bash them, The Cowra is a great pub with great food and service, the town has its probs but ive lived in worse, so dont go to Wyong if you think Cowra is bad, we must all voice our opinion constructively and make your voice heard, yes it is a small town with some small minded people but the again I wouldnt call 13500 population small

I'll agree on this. You will have limited chaces of work unless you are a local 5th generation inbred. Also you hit the nail on the head concerning the police.

Barrack Heights

"best place to live"

I lived in Strata ave Barrack heights for 2 years.I loved it.The neighbours where fantastic. When i went away they would watch my house for me and feed my animals. The street was lovely and quiet and the local shops where fantastic. The local pre school that was two streets behind Strata ave was fantastic.Marylou the owner was great with the kids.My daughter was so upset when we moved away. Its the first pre school she was happy to stay at.I love Barrack heights and hope to buy there again some time

Koonawarra

"A safe place to walk the streets at night"

I lived on Fowlers rd Koonawarra for many years.I found it to be a very quiet and family orientated place to be in as a teenager.Me and my friends would pull a mattress out on the front lawn and camp under the stars at night and never have any trouble from anyone. It used to have a bad reputation, but i never understood why.You could always feel safe at night, the people where very friendly, the lake is just a short stroll away and the houses are cheap. My sister went to the Public school in Dapto, but after being bullied to much, she left and started at Koonawarra Public. She was delighted. The bullying stopped, and she began to flurish again.People in Koonawarra are not as materialistic as other places, and this reflects in the attitude of the children at the school.I say its the perfect place to raise a family
