Armagh Street

"Clean, quiet street."

Good street, safe, clean, green and quiet but whole street has cars parked up and down it and people like to speed through in their cars leaving you to pull behind another car and wait for them to pass. I used to get notes on my car for parking on the street but I guess they've given up. There's construction on the corner of Armagh and Berwick to make a new set of apartments so the street is full of construction workers parked everywhere. You can also hear the traffic from Canning Highway and airplanes going over. Other than that I like living here, there's a lot of birds and trees around and it's a nice place to live.

Great for

  • Clean & green
  • Safe & quiet
  • Nice houses, close to CBD and public transport

Not great for

  • No parking, all street parking taken
  • Can hear traffic of Berwick St and Canning Highway including sirens

Victoria Park

"Great quiet area close to Curtin Uni & CBD"

I live in a shared townhouse with my partner. We're uni students and love that the 72 & 75 buses are a 3 minute walk away and take 10 minutes to get to Curtin University bus station. Buses that go to the CBD are plentiful, 106, 105, 32, 72 & 75 (and probably more) all go to the CBD from Canning Highway or Vic Park Transfer Station and take about 8-10 minutes (or a little more) depending on traffic in peak times. There's a lot of trees and parks around, we live near Raphael park and there's always school kids playing soccer etc there. There isn't any dodgy people around either. This area is peaceful and quiet and close to the city, Canning Highway, Berwick Street, Great Eastern Highway and Albany Highway. Only complaint is you can't park on the street anywhere because people like to leave you little notes even if you're on the road not the verge, and traffic is a bit hectic in peak times since it's so close to the city. We live very close to South Perth foreshore and there is a lovely bike path and footpath that runs along the swan river. Lovely path, lovely city and river views. Oh and there are heaps of fireworks!! From the Crown Casino (which is really close) and Perth city. If you can see the fireworks it might be cool but if you can't it's just frustrating haha. Another con might be if you live close to Canning Highway (like I do) there is a lot of traffic noise and police/ambulance sirens.

Great for

  • Close to city
  • Good public transport
  • Everything a short walk away
  • Spacious Parks and Ovals
  • Quiet and safe
  • Nice green streets
  • Lots of restaurants

Not great for

  • High street traffic
  • Parking issues
  • Traffic noise
  • Noisy fireworks in summer (maybe a pro when you can see them from your house)
