George Town

"A good home is what you make it"

George Town is located in a beautiful area about 40 minutes drive from Launceston. Prices for houses and land here is still extremely cheap compared to what you would have to pay anywhere else in Australia. The town has everything you would need to live very comfortably and happily - of course you have woolies, iga, chemists, mechanics, restaurants etc. etc., there's a hospital, schools, library, indoor sports centre, a Peppers Resort, great seafood, and a great public swimming pool. Annual festivals such as the arts and music festival brings a little bit of excitement in the area. Wineries and beaches are all very close by to enjoy. With brand new George Town Council offices being built, and economic development plans in the pipeline, this town is like a dark horse that could very well bolt ahead in the not too distant future.

Low Head

"A beautiful getaway"

Low Head is a small suburb steeped in history and natural beauty. It's located at the mouth of the great Tamar river, where Australia's oldest light house /pilot station still operates, and fairy penguins come up on to the beach. It's about 45 minutes drive from Launceston. It can be a very windy spot being at the tip of Northern Tassie where you experience high winds/ roaring forties. Many houses in Low Head have wonderful views to the Tamar River or the Bass Strait ocean. There are some lovely places to stay here too in terms of holiday accommodation. Low Head is popular with tourists in Spring and Summer. Fishing is good here. But if you are looking for shops or restaurants, there is pretty much nothing out here, you need to drive a short 5 minute drive to neighbouring George Town to find them. Low Head is a lovely, quiet suburb for retirees and commuters to live in, or to have a weekend holiday house.

Great for

  • Natural beauty
  • Penguins
  • Low cost of living

Not great for

  • No convenience stores in Low Head

Lord Liverpool Drive

"Glorious ocean views to Bass Strait in brand new road"

Lord Liverpool Drive is a wide but quiet road that offers breathtaking ocean views from the brand new properties which are all modern energy efficient homes. You won't see any old, ugly and cheap homes here. Lord Liverpool Drive sets a high benchmark for beach suburb living at Bell Buoy Beach. The new road has sewerage, underground power, phones/internet. I think it's only a matter of time that more people will discover Bell Buoy Beach, and more land releases will pop up as there's only a handful of cheap blocks left up for grabs in the area. There's direct public access to the gorgeous unspoilt beaches. If you love the beach for windsurfing, boating, swimming, or to just admire, and you crave peace and quiet away from the rat race but at the same time like to NOT feel totally isolated, this is the place for you. It's a safe, friendly, relaxing neighbourhood and is conveniently located 10 minutes drive from George Town where there's woollies, shops for everything from hardware to butchers, medical centres, library, post office, banks, hospital, mechanics, pubs, cafes, restaurants, Peppers waterfront resort, public swimming pool, and schools. If you want more options Launceston city is an easy 40 minutes drive from there.

Great for

  • Peaceful, safe, friendly neighbourhood
  • Brand new energy efficient homes

Not great for

  • Lack of public transport

Are you a real estate agent by any chance? Just curious as to the three posts all at once covering George Town, Low Head, and then very specifically a street.
