Concord

"Couldn't agree more!"

Best suburb in Sydney. So many things to point out.

To quote Anna Anderson:
"In 1952, Mervyn Victor Richardson invented the Victa mower in a Concord garage. He had plenty of inspiration. Concord is known as Sydney’s “parkland” suburb. Many of its tree-lined streets start, end in or border parks or golf courses.

Home to the prestigious Concord Golf Club and Massey Park Golf Club on Exile Bay, Concord also claims St Lukes and Rothwell parks, Concord Oval, Majors Bay Reserve and several more. Residents hardly need a lawn of their own to mow but this is the inner west’s green belt where the average land size measures 529 square metres.

Ben Horwood, director of LJ Hooker Concord, sees locals upgrading, people from the west moving closer to the city and even buyers from the north shore and east where, for the price of a semi, they can upgrade to a family home on a big block. “It’s an outstanding area of growth,” says Horwood. He reports the last six months has seen staggering growth.

Joseph Georges, of Georges Ellis, agrees. “It’s an inner west hot spot.” He believes the upgrading of the Majors Bay Road shops, where you can park your car and dine outside has added to the relaxed atmosphere of this family-friendly suburb. Census data shows 75 per cent of residences have either three or four bedrooms.

Raine & Horne Concord agent Dib Chidiac says families come for the schools, multi-cultural demographic and the space. People from suburbs like Newtown where the average land size is 137 square metres can upgrade to bigger blocks and continue to enjoy a village-based community.

Locals like

The great sense of open space which marks Concord as the inner west’s green patch. The lack of a major public transport hub keeps the suburb quiet while North Strathfield station, Cabarita ferry wharf and city buses cover transport issues. The Majors Bay Road village is the heart of the suburb.
