North Melbourne

"Our Little Inner City Secret"

We've been living here for almost 4 years.

We love the proximity to everything and public transport.

The community is on the whole friendly, unpretentious and there is a strong creative leaning.

We've met some lovely people through my wife's mothers group, which vindicated our decision to buy in the area.

Since moving into the area, we've seen some great independent businesses open like The Auction Rooms, Di Bellas, All The King's Men and The French Quarter, which is as good a patisserie as you would find anywhere in Melbourne.

We have great restaurants like the Court House Hotel and Libertine. The local Fish and Chips shop is clean and tasty.

Errol Street has a village like feel to it, but like most inner city areas, it is often ruined by dodgy characters, who often hassle you for money.

There is nothing worse that stepping out of the local IGA and being confronted by an aggressive druggie asking you for change.

I know this is unavoidable if you choose to live in the inner suburbs, but I wish there was a greater police presence and the city council spent more time and money addressing this issue, as opposed to hassling the local shops to remove pavement displays.
