We have lived in Newport for 8 years now. I grew up in Brighton but we couldn't afford to buy around that area, I wanted to be close to the water and not too far from the city. Newport fit the bill and we are so glad we bought here. It is very quick to get into the city (10mins by car) and the public transport is excellent. We enjoy going out to dinner in Yarraville and Williamstown and there are now some great restaurants and cafes in Newport. There are 2 gyms one with a pool and heaps of nice walks. The Newport Lakes is excellent for walks/runs and BBQ's too. It is a quiet suburb and people are friendly and neighbours look out for one another.
