"A Brilliant Suburb Choice for all"
Having lived in many different places around Brisbane and overseas, I've come to the conclusion that I will ALWAYS call The Gap my home and will live here as long as possible (and considering there's a retirement place, that's gonna be a while!).
The Gap is a beautiful leafy suburb filled to the brim with friendly people (not creepily so, mind!). The main reason I love living in The Gap is the peace and quiet and ease of access to the hustle and bustle when you decide you're in need of a night out. The city is a mere 9kms away, and while Ashgrove is a bit of a bottleneck most mornings, once you're past there, it's almost always smooth sailing. Note: Pick your window to leave around the bus schedule and where possible car poole, as the T2 is a fairly clear run if you're not stuck behind a bus!
The Gap Village has everything you could need, and the bigger shops; Brookside, Chermside and Indooroopilly are about 20minutes away.
I grew up in The Gap and live here still as a DINK and it really does cater for everyone.
It's a brilliant suburb to raise a family in as it's safe and surrounded by great schools and as far as teenagers go, nothing will ever please them so it's a good as you're ever going to get! Great for adults too, as it's close to town and peaceful upon your return from work.
In case you hadn't figured it out, I've not a bad word to say about the suburb!
Great for
- Close to city
- Friendly
- Green and relaxing
Who lives here?
- Professionals
- Singles
- Families with kids
- Retirees
- LGBT+
- Hipsters
- Trendy & Stylish
I would agree with that, Ollygt. The house prices are 'better' than they have been, however The Gap is probably still considered one of the 'well-to-do-suburbs' of Brisbane. Having said that, for the comparitive costs, I'd pick The Gap over most other 'well-to-do-suburbs' because it doesn't feel like you're living inner city. Hipsters and Trendy/Stylish may well prefer to be closer to the action, but they'll get over it and want some peace and quiet and some point! :) (I'm speaking from experience there!).
If you're a single you do need a fairly high salary to afford the house prices though, as with retirees. Hipsters and trendy people would probably prefer the more fashionable suburbs around the inner city rather than out here, much closer to shopping, restaurants and higher density living.
