Cobargo

"A quiet village with a friendly vibe"

Cobargo is a small and somewhat village located on the Sapphire Coast, close to Bermagui. It's population sits at around about 500 - something that is likely to remain.

Peace and quiet is a main quality of Cobargo as there are not enough people for it not to be. The only noticeable crime in the area is the odd domestic or theft here and there.

With Cobargo Public School being the only school, this tiny village is not best suited for settling with a family as once the kids are at the age where they need to attend high school they will be travelling a good 30km+ to get to Narooma High School each morning. Even further if you want to send them to Bega High School (I highly recommend against this for several reasons), which is around 40km from Cobargo.

If you are the type of person who likes chopping down trees, avoid Cobargo. A lot of the locals are 'environmentalists' (greenies) and general hippies as well. The use of marijuana is obvious and a little worrying considering they drive around while high without a care in the world.

The bottom line is that Cobargo is NOT a place to have your kids raised in, nor the place for people who dislike hippies. If you are looking for a small town on the Sapphire Coast, I recommend going for Bermagui rather than Cobargo.
