Muswellbrook

"Muswellbrook is a great place to live."

Those people who have nothing nice to say about Muswellbrook need to take the blinkers off and take a good look around. No matter where you go it’s what YOU make of it.
Shopping is easy here and if you cannot get what you need Maitland and Newcastle is just down the road so enjoy a day out!
The airport is close by along with the beach, lakes, bush, fishing, camping just to name a few. There are so many activities you can do that do not cost you anything, be creative.
Muswellbrook has several organised sporting groups and heaps of reserves or common areas with bike/walking paths. The town pool has both indoor and outdoor pools so swimming is all year round.
There is a hospital with a helipad and a medical centre which is also open on Saturday mornings. They also have doctors on call so you can walk in and wait without an appointment. Specialist care is again just down the road in Maitland or Newcastle and even Tamworth and Sydney.
The rail network can even take you right to the terminal of the Sydney airport.
You can be as involved in the community as you want but again you only get out what YOU put in.
As for the dust, I've lived in other parts of Australia and guess what? There was dust... can you believe that?
Someone commented on their feedback that trucks and traffic was a concern for them. What should one expect on a Hwy that leads from Sydney to Brisbane? How do you think every item, on a shelf, in a shop, gets there for us to purchase?
We think it’s a great place for the kids to grow up. Nice country feel with the city close by.
My only advice for those who cannot stand the place... leave!

This review is incorrect, the airport is NOT close by. I frequently have to travel to the airport and the trip is close to two hours, one way. It might not sound like much, but when you are in the car, it is. I'm not sure what beaches are nearby, but I've never seen one. Newcastle is the closest. There is also a prison here, and a lot of the families and friends of the inmates live here. Also, "just down the road" in Maitland, is nearly an hour and a half. Prepare to be spending a lot on fuel. I'd hate for someone to read this review and move here based on untruths.

Yes there is a correctional facility here. It is low security . The majority of residents in this town in NOT the family members of the inmates. I've lived here for 16 year and know majority of people in this town and they are not related with the inmates!! get your facts right before you start bagging out this town!!!!!

I don't know what part of Muswellbrook you live in, but the public housing people in the area where I pay private rent, are horrible, horrible, horrible!!! Every f'ing day it's something. I don't need to take my blinkers off and look around - I see how disgusting these people are every f'ing day. They make the rest of our lives miserable!!!

I think it's Rixstr who is in fairyland. NONE of what they described applied to Muswellbrook!!
