"Leafy & Green, Safe & Friendly"
I've lived in Sutherland for my whole life and will never leave! After a few experiences in the west and east areas of Sydney, this is a great place to be.
It has a leafy and green aspect (in parts), great council facilities - libraries, leisure centres, skate parks etc. Majority of neighbours are friendly, and if you have lived in the area long enough - the world is a small world and most people know someone who knows someone! Miranda has all the shops you need, and most town centre (Sutherland, Jannali, etc) have post offices, banks, grocery stores, hairsalons, buthers etc etc...you never need to leave!
Sutherland is fantastic in terms of public transport - three train lines via Sutherland so there is always a train available..There are also buses available.
In terms of dining, there is some fantastic eats around the area all waiting to be found.
Having the beach so close yet not so busy as Bondi etc, living in the "Shire" is definitely great for those who commute yet want the lifestyle on the weekends..
There are schools for almost any type of family - public, private, catholic etc...
Sporting activities are great and there is always something going on around the place...

All the junkies? What junkies? I think you have the wrong suburb....at worst there might be a few pot smokers but you get that in every suburb
Have you ever been to Franklins? Or around the housing commission areas?
Yeah. I used to shop there. Like I said, there's a few pot heads, but no more than anywhere else. The housing commission area isn't that bad either. Just because you have one or two derros in there doesn't make the whole suburb unsafe.
Where is exactly the housing commssion located?My fren is interested in buying a property there.

Sutherland has one of the lowest crime rates in metropolitan sydney & has been so for quite some time, has changed allot for the better since The Heroin injection clinic was removed in 30 years ago.
Too much vigilante, narrow viewpoint, simpletons
See how violent the people are on the news during the Cronulla riots and the vandalism on woolworths for taking Australian day items off the shelves, thats the primitive mindset and ugly side of Sutherland areas. Get on the wrong side of their views and in return be prepared for injustice, blind rage, vigilantelism and hatred. Hence the place is unsafe.
I don't know about safe with all the junkies and derros roaming around...
