The Gap

"Leafy lifestyle, village atmosphere within 10 km city - Brisbanes best kept secret"

We're ex Sydney (Balmain, Rozelle and Glebe) and Melbourne (Albert Park, North Fitzroy) escapees to a greener, cleaner lifestyle. When we first came we looked at inner city but soon realised there is no true "inner city" like in sydney and Melbourne where you are within walking distance of any number of choices of pubs and eating places - in Brisbane you need to get in a car to go out - even if it's only 5 minutes drive. So - what does The Gap offer? The chance of an outdoor lifestyle (most places have pools) in a clean and green environment - yet still only 20 minutes from James Steet for Saturday breakfast and 15 for Rosalie, the Barracks cinema etc. The little village is daggy as anything but does have a terrific deli/grocery, a decent bookshop and, finally, might get some decent coffee shops. We have two dogs so it's important to have a house. The bus service is quick for the big ticketed events at Suncorp, and you can either bus into town or drive to a rail station - I choose Wilston - and catch the train in. It's a freindly, easy escape from the City.
