Edwin Ward Place

"Hidden in full view"

I loved living in Edwin Ward. It has a real community spirit where everyone knows everyone else. There are at least Christmas drinks at someone's house and everyone helps everyone else out. There are only a few houses in the street so its a bit 'exclusive'. There's no traffic, a little creek at the end of the street and its the archetypal 'leafy green".

Its a great spot with Pittwater a block away and Mona Vale beach 1-2km away. I used to run from to Church Point along Pittwater and then back over Barrenjoey to the surf on a weekend. There's the dog park around the corner near the boat ramp too.

I really miss some of the eateries too. Some of them may not the flashest places in the world but we loved the Man Wah (spelling?) in Newport was cheap, cheerful and so good. I have friends too that come from Brisbane specially to eat at Lucky and Peps near there too. Mona Vale itself has lots of little cafes and then there's the pubs - Newport Arms is of course a Northern Beaches standard but the Mona Vale hotel was my favourite.

For retail therapy there are lots of little shops in Mona Vale iself but Warringah Mall is the Mecca. I've yet to come across a better set up because of its inside/outside design.

I used to work in the city and got the buses from Barrenjoey around the corner. Its a 5-10 minute walk. You can drive if you want as the traffic isn't too bad (except for where you croos over Sydney Rd near Manly) but I'd usually not bother - always a seat on the bus which is great if you're reading, studying or sleeping.

Maybe I should move back.........
