Victoria Point

"This place has everything"

We moved from NSW 6 months ago and can not believe how fantastic this place is. We can walk to 3 different waterside parks, we can walk to 2 different leash free parks , there are bike tracks, picture perfect parks with BBQ facilities, boat ramps, walk to cares and restaurants and we paid half of what we sold our house for in NSW.
Which means we have no mortgage and a better house near the water and not too far from the city. Every day feels like a new beginning and in weekends we can't wait to do something new or try a new restaurant, a ferry ride to a different island or bike ride around. A few lone tree away in Cleveland here are even more restaurants , there are restrictions with public transport, but working in Carindale means I only have a 25 minute drive and I don't have to pay a single toll and heaps of parking. I'm loving life in Victoria Point and stumbled across it accidentally after spending months looking all over Brisbane, our little family has found our own little paradise and our friends and family love to come and visit us. In Sydney you can't even buy a run down 2 bedroom unit in Clovelly with no view for under $700k , up here we got a big house with pool, views and lifestyle for under $700k and there are houses on the market for $400k still really close to everything. The downside if you could call it one, we had to pay for private school for our kids, the council rates are very high ( $978 per quarter), and tradespeople are a lot more expensive up here than in Sydney ( don't know why as overall living is heaps cheaper here but we got fence quotes that were different in price by 40% and we had a dodgy plumber install a basin that the tap blew off 2 months later and that was over the top as well and he didn't want to repair or refund). But that could be just bad luck and happen anywhere. I am not kidding when I tell you the cinema here is fantastic and is only $4.50 for a child and $6.50 for an adult. We were paying $12 and $17 in Sydney so lifestyle and family life for us has improved 10 fold and we can afford to do heaps more things than we could before which offsets the expensive tradespeople . Feels like a holiday at home everyday of the week. Best choice we ever made.

Hi WW, I live in Manly Sydney after but I lived in a few places in Clovelly (we probably passed each other at Charlies Foodworks or the beach ) . I know the beaches arent fabulous in Bris but what do you think of the swimming at beach/bay? Im not great with chlorine.

We have a block of land in Eumundi but hubby is in commercial construction so I said Id try Bris living whilst he builds business up.

Staying in an Airbnb there in a weeks time then airbnb in Victorias Point. Nice people, calm positive energy and a somewhat swimmable beach is important to me.

Thanks so much

Also I do love the community vibes from having lived in Clovelly, Peregian Beach and Collaroy Plateau. Close enough to city and restaurants and still by the water. What would you say the people and energy is like? Sounds like youre really loving it there. Any suggestions for where I can chill out, get great coffee or have a nice meal in Victorias Point?

Thanks so much
