Wellington Point

"Expensive to buy but what an investment in lifestyle"

I built in Wellington Point, two streets from the shops, in 2003. My children walked to Redlands College, my neighbours go to the local catholic school and friends send their children to Wellington Point State School. All these schools have excellent reputations.

If you like walking, Wellington Point is beautiful and within most people's walking distance from the village, with Stradbroke Island to the right and Moreton Bay on the left as you walk out to the Point. If you enjoy boating or fishing, they have parking areas a suitable length for your car and trailer at the Point. If you just want to rest and enjoy a picnic, Wellington Point is famous for this. Serviced barbeque and toilet facilities and a large undercover area for inclement weather or sun protection is provided by council. The cafe onsite has icecreams and drinks, although there are bubblers too.

I love living here. Everything I need is within walking distance. Neighbourhood is friendly and safe.

Disadvantages: young people might find it difficult to get to some universities. QUT can be accessed by train within walking distance, but the other two (Griffith and UQ) are not easily accessible unless you drive a car. The closest TAFE Institute is at Alexandra Hills, 10 minutes drive from Wellington Point, but indirect to reach by bus, requiring two buses.
Expensive to buy into the suburb or to rent.
