Benghazi Road

"A nice suburban street"

Benghazi Rd, is one of a series of parallel streets that are named after world war 1 and 2 battlefields. All the streets are quiet and safe with lots of trees and lush gardens.

Benghazi Rd, is the closest to Pennant Hills Rd so you can hear the traffic noise sometimes. The noise about 10 years ago was pretty bad, but has improved a lot with recent resurfacing and also the addition of the M2 and the M7 which connects to it. The M2 and 7 allow truck drivers to get to most places in Sydney without having to always go down Pennant Hills Road. That being said, there are still many trucks on the road.

Benghazi is well serviced by Electricity, Gas and Water, with very rare outages of any of the services. Cable TV and Internet are available.

Community Spirit in the street is excellent. Everyone looks out for each other, yet doesnt get involved in each others affairs. Several families live on the street, many of which have children who are getting older and moving out of home. Only a few houses have younger children left.

The street itself dips in the centre with hills either side. They arent going to hurt walking up them, but cars sometimes speed down them with little care for other motorists or pedestrians.

Families who are looking to move into the area will be well serviced by a choice of 3 schools less than 5 mins walk away (Catholic primary school, Public primary and Public high school) several parks within 15 mins walk and even creeks and walking tracks.

The street is very close to Carlingford Court shopping centre, 10 mins walk south along Pennant Hills Rd. There is also a small strip of local shops 10 mins walk in the opposite direction at the end of North Rocks rd. It boasts a bottle shop, a small grocery store, newsagent, hairdressers, chemist, butcher (who makes some amazing sausages!) bakery, takeaway chicken shop, florist and pool supplies. An independent petrol station is next door with a quality mechanic. Their fuel prices are not competitive and rarely change from day to day, yet alone week to week.

For those who are religious the street is quite close to several churches. Carlingford Baptist Church is literally up the street, as is St Gerards Catholic Church (and primary school) The main Australian temple for the Church of Jesus Christ and Later Day Saints is on the Pennant Hills rd, opposite carlingford court. There is also a Christian City Church that meets at the local public schools on north rocks rd. There are several Bretheren Churches scattered around the streets near Benghazi Rd. As for other religions there is a Budhist group that has a place near Carlingford Court on Pennant Hills Rd. There are no Mosques or Synagogues in the local area.

In Benghazi Rd the main ehtnicity is anglo saxon, although in recent years there has been several Indian and Chinese families that have moved in.

Public transport in the area is ok. Benghazi Rd is a 20 min walk from Carlingford Station and Epping Station is about a 40 min walk. Buses leave from North Rocks Rd and Carlingford Court that go past epping station. Private Buses from Hillsbus/Westbus are not as reliable as the government services and have been known to be up to 20 mins late in non peak times or not turn up at all.

I have lived in this street for 21 years now and have seen it change in many ways. But the good things about Benghazi have not changed. I would certainly recommend anyone looking to move into the area to live in this street.
