Morang Pl

"Morang Place - Connecting Roads"

The importance of this little connector is not to be undermined. Much like mobile phone it connects Morang Road and Evansdale road. Close by Hawthorn railway line. Close to Yarra River on the south. Close by park on Morang road provides a good mental relief. Area is built up and has formal residential development.

There is concentration of large multi dwelling blocks south of Morang place. Area has moderate slope and land is primarily use for residential purposes. The land pattern is varied. Public transport is a good choice. Shops are available close by on burwood road. Streets are local and traffic is limited. Varied widths of roads with Morang place having no footpaths
Plantings exist on one side of street. Parking is over flowing even though on street parking.

"Hover over Power - Sharing road with Trams"

Most use by human race for commuting this is a massive road with two very popular trams routes 70 and 75 flowing through it. although it has proximity to school and glenferrie road, it still lacks the charm of being lively. The Architecturally blessed super-steep right turn at riversdale road mark the beginning of power street which has been accredited with many 'cyclist and car' crashes.

Mainly residential in use. Many connecting streets are cul-de-sac. Good access to public transport, shops are available at some distance however services are beyond walking distance. Power Street is a busy & noisy road and it has high concentration of multi dwelling developments which have deeper setbacks. Good views along Power Street in certain areas

Good and easy access to closeby Glenferrie road, Hawthorn Library, and further leading to schools, parks and recreational Centres.Close by Hawthorn Railway Line. Close to Yarra River on the south. Close by park on Morang road provides a good mental relief
Area is built up and has formal residential development. Mostly constructed with timber this road now has many commercial building with great urban looks plus two to three storey multi dwelling modern development mainly rented out to young professionals and/or students. Area has moderate slope

The land pattern is varied and so is the size and shape of the land allotments. Public transport is a good choice. Shops are available close by. Streets are local and traffic is limited
Varied widths with Glen Avon road and Morang place having no footpaths.Plantings exist on both side but not in quantity and as such you can see greenery for just name sake.
A remarkable commercial centre on Burwood road is Going Going Green which sells all the gardening stuff and also sells sculpture of Zoo animals. This along with the recently started Bunnings warehouse on the road have added to the ease of access to fulfill gardening needs of local residents.

Burwood Rd, Hawthorn from the curve at Camberwell Rd to the Yarra is quite varied. Sadly it's becoming a major thoroughfare so traffic is getting quite bad any day of the week. Starting at Camberwell Rd end, you have a mix of shops (furniture, kitchen, Mitre 10, wedding dresses and car yard). Heading west and crossing Auburn Rd, more mixed small business' and a few restaurants that are local institutions and then you hit smaller residents on the south side that are facing multi story developments on the north. Sadly these are high density student accommodation and these buildings along with Swinburne are changing the landscape into a bit of a tunnel.
Crossing Glenferrie, it changes again to office buildings, furniture shops, Bunnings (!) and more mix of shops and apartment blocks. And finally crossing Power St, West Hawthorn shops is a nice local shopping precinct with a terrific IGA and the best wine bar for miles - Gibsons. And then small businesses and back into reasonable density housing opposite St James Park and West Hawthorn Primary.

"Urban lane where senses sang, saw around and found Morang"

Unlike most of its along side streets or groves or courts, Morang road is very appealing to general public due to its natural reserve. It open on one end at Busy Burwood road. Speedy traffice is super slow on morang road thanks to the Round about and the on street parking which at the moment seems to be over flowing.
Due to Proximity to burwood road and power street, their is sound on the road but morang road still can be rated as quiet due to the Morang reserve. Close by railway line - Hawthorn. Close to Yarra River on the south. Close by park on Morang road provides a good mental relief. Area is built up and has formal residential development. Shops are available close by on burwood road. Streets are local and traffic is limited. Plantings exist on one side of street. Main trees are prunus, angophora, etc. Houses have small gardens. "Let the peace party begin - For good views, silence and nature have arrived"

Much unlike the nearby surround of polluted environment this area proves to be a paradise for all.
Its best bit is that it connects yarra street with the Morang Reserve .
So if you start walking through yarra street and end up in the Morang reserve its much like silent urbanised tracking (with less risk ofcourse)

Yarra St

""Jack and jill fell down the hill to fetch a pale from yarra""

It has one end to Burwood road which makes it a little bit busy as compared with the parallel counterparts coppin grove and shakespeare grove. Again there are large and grand houses with large exotic front gardens. It has very steep slopes because of hill formation & mainly used for Residential purposes. An even mix of slate and terracotta roofing’s
Size of houses range around 700-800 sq meters & we all can have spectacular views from the central hills in all direction.
Pre dominant trees in this street among other are Prunus, Lilly pilly, plane, Ash, etc
Has Dense vegetation & close to state college of Victoria.

Dominant use is residential. It is close to state college of Victoria.
Traffic is limited due to the topography of the area.

Tweed St

"Good Little Exit on Burwood Road"

This street proves to be a good Entry/Exit point On/From Burwood Road. It basically connects Lynch Street and Burwood Road. Few negatives that this street has, is that it allows parking which together with its inclining structure makes it a bit unsafe for vehicles entering the street. Street is not big and its roughly 10 meters in length, has few offices and a low cost gym in its vicinity. Since it is generally used for commuting noise is indispensible.

Quite funny is the bit when people arrives at gym in Car & jog 45 mins to 1 hour in the Gym Treadmill :>

"Loses on - Transport & Cleanliness"

Mostly occupied with 2-3 storeys buildings, room within which rented out to students or young professionals/couples. Due this fact street parking is preoccupied most of the time.

Having lived here for six months, I felt missed public transport since this street is a bit far from Auburn station which apparently is the only close station to the residents in the street, further it is not a major station so not all trains were scheduled a halt. No sign of TRAM nearby

I used to find restaurants and grocery shops on the glenferrie road as the closest

Personally I found the awareness about cleanliness among residents at a low.

"Quiet, Pleasant, calm & safe - Just a bit far from basic needs"

Very quiet, calm, pleasant, clean & leafy street. It is not a street with any commercial activity and it has centre of Able services Australia. Close to Tram Number 70 which passes through the riversdale road. The nearest grocery store is far up near camberwell train station meaning healthy 30 minutes walk or 10 mintutes drive. Most houses are owned by Middle to old age groups and hence the street maintains early to bed and early to rise philosophy. It also has 3-4 antique houses which is inhabited occasionally by the owner adding to the quietness of the street.

"Welcome to Road Rage Arena"

Although a quiet and less of commercial looking street, it is actually monitored by cops due to road rage issues. Due to proximity to train tracks and some big sound making machine like stuff for trains along with two packaging business located on this street it has high noise element to it. Further, it is mostly used for parking by nearby residents or business owners. It lacks in cleanliness and considering the large number of cars parked here it has a big risk factor attached to it.
