Reviews of Wentworth Street, Dover Heights
"Clifftop street - changing faces."
Wentworth Street is a good example of the changing face of Dover Heights, North Bondi, and perhaps the Eastern Suburbs in general.
The properties on this beautiful cul-de-sac were once all fairly inconspicuous 1970’s bungalows, albeit, on the eastern side of the road, with cliff-top gardens and incredibly spectacular views.
Now, although there are still many original properties on this circuitous street, plenty have been completely overhauled, or perhaps even demolished and rebuilt. There are several properties there now, that are not much more than concrete cubes, from the outside at least. They still have the obvious attraction of the endless sea views from their cliff top gardens however.
For that reason, I’m not sure the east side of the street is wonderful for families with small children. Vigilance would be key (they really are cliff top homes, with a sheer drop), and if it were me, I would have my heart in my mouth for most of the time.
There are plenty of outdoor spaces here, especially with Hugh Bamford reserve right at the end of the road (spectacular views). And this is a great spot for golfers as a few metres further down Military Road brings you to the cliff-land North Bondi Golf Club. I do wonder, though, how many balls end up in the ocean.
