Were St Montmorency, is the local shopping village. It is hidden away from the main roads, you have to look to find this gem. It is only a short street, but one which contains a great collection of shops.
For great coffee, try the Were Street Food Store about halfway down the hill. If you are lucky, you will get a great piece of art on the top of your coffee. A great barista is in residence, ask for a special piece of art! MUDD at the top of the hill has great pastries, as well as lunches available.
There is a newsagent in the old cinema building, a supermarket which has all you need, and a fantastic butcher at the bottom of the hill. Fruit shops, clothing, party supplies, several bakeries, and multiple takeaway shops abound.
If you are into beadmaking, there is a great shop at the top of the hill. Also a Thai Restaurant, a bank, Post Office, Hairdressers, Dentist, Milk bar, kids clothing and toys, and a Video store.
At the bottom of the street is the station, with good access to Melbourne CBD. Have a look at the new landscaping on the corner, which combines water storage with a simulated dry creekbed.
A great place to enjoy lunch or a coffee, and you can sit outside on a sunny day. Come and enjoy!
